Green, Spiller, Leal, Wydermyer earn first-team All-SEC preseason honors
On Friday morning, the results of the media’s voting for preseason All-SEC selections were announced, and four Aggies appeared on the first team.
Running back Isaiah Spiller, tight end Jalen Wydermyer and offensive lineman Kenyon Green made the first-team offense, while defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal was selected to the first-team defense.
Wide receiver Ainias Smith appeared on the third-team offense in addition to being named the second-team return specialist and third-team all-purpose player. Defensive lineman Jayden Peevy was selected to the SEC’s third-team defense.
Along with voting on the preseason all-conference teams, the media also cast their votes to predict the 2021 Southeastern Conference champions. Alabama has been picked to win the West Division with 932 points and 130 of the 134 first-place votes.
Within the SEC West, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss and even Arkansas also received a first-place vote, but it was the Aggies who the media picked to finish behind the Crimson Tide as A&M earned 730 points.
Georgia has again been picked to win the SEC East, receiving 124 first-place votes. Florida, who appears to be the Bulldogs’ biggest threat within the division, picked up seven first-place votes.
The Crimson Tide has been picked to win the SEC Championship, earning 84 votes. The next closest was Georgia, with 45 votes. Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina received just one vote to win the league.
