Track & Field
On Wednesday, Athing Mu was named one of five finalists for the 91st AAU James E. Sullivan Award.

• The winner will be announced on Friday, October 22, at an award ceremony in Rosen Center in Orlando, Florida.
• The other finalists include Simone Biles (USA Gymnastics), Caeleb Dressel (USA Swimming), Kevin Kopps (University of Arkansas baseball) and Maddie Musselman (USA Water Polo).
• If Mu wins, she would become just the second Aggie ever to win the award, joining Randy Matson (1967).

Football (5-2, 2-2 in SEC)
No. 17 Texas A&M hosts South Carolina on Saturday night at Kyle Field.

• Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on the SEC Network.
• Texas A&M has never lost to South Carolina and look to move to 8-0 against the Gamecocks.
• It is the Aggies’ final game before next week’s bye week.

For his performance vs. Missouri, offensive lineman Kenyon Green was named the SEC’s Offensive Lineman of the Week.

• It is the second time Green has won the award.

On Tuesday, Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane were named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honorable mention selections for their performances vs. Missouri.

• Spiller rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
• Achane rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

Soccer (6-8-2, 2-5-1 in SEC)
The Aggies suffered another defeat on Thursday night, falling to Mississippi State in Starkville, 2-1.

• 20’: Maile Hayes scored off an assist by Barbara Olivieri.
• A&M conceded goals in the 86’ and 89’, respectively.
• The Aggies are now winless in their last three matches and are 1-6-1 in their last eight.
• With the loss, the Aggies will have their first losing regular season in program history.

Texas A&M returns to Ellis Field on Sunday afternoon for the final home match of the year, facing Vanderbilt.

• Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

Volleyball (11-7, 4-4 in SEC)
Texas A&M is on the road this weekend for a pair of matches with Mississippi State in Starkville.

• Saturday: 3:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network

Men’s Golf
No. 9 Texas A&M will close their fall slate this weekend as the Aggies play in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.

• The tournament begins on Friday, October 22, and will conclude on Sunday, October 24.
• Also playing in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate are Clemson, Colorado State, Duke, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech (host), USC, Stanford, Tennessee, TCU, UCLA, Virginia and Wake Forest.
• The five expected to play for A&M are William Paysse, Sam Bennett, Michael Heidelbaugh, Walker Lee and Daniel Rodrigues.

Women’s Golf
On Monday, the Aggies wrapped up play in the Jim West Challenge with Zoe Slaughter tying the lowest round in program history.

• Slaughter, a sophomore from Houston, shot an 8-under 64 in the final round at Kissing Tree Golf Club.
• As a team, Texas A&M finished 11-under for the weekend, finished sixth in the tournament.
• A trio of Aggies — Slaughter, Blanca Fernández García-Poggio and Adela Cernousek — finished tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.

Swimming & Diving
On Tuesday afternoon, freshman swimmer Trey Dickey was named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week for his performance vs. No. 1 Texas last Friday.

• Dickey finished third in both the 1000m free (9:12.98) and the 500m free (4:30.20).

Aggies in the rankings:

• Men: No. 16
• Women: No. 21

Both the men’s and women’s teams are off until November 5, when they host TCU at the Rec Center Natatorium in a dual meet.

Baseball
Texas A&M will host Lamar for their second and final fall exhibition game on Friday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

• First pitch is scheduled for 6:02 p.m. CT and will not be televised.
• Admission is free.

On Thursday evening, Jim Schlossnagle & Co. received the verbal commitment from 2024 RHP Blayne Lyne.

• The 6-4 Lyne hails from London High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Men’s Basketball
The SEC’s preseason media poll was released on Wednesday, and Buzz Williams and the Aggies have been picked to finish 12th in the 14-team league.

• A year ago, Texas A&M finished 13th and lost to Vanderbilt (14th) in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

Women’s Basketball
On Tuesday, the SEC’s preseason media poll was released, and Gary Blair and the Aggies have been picked to finish third in the 14-team league.

• Last season, the Aggies won the SEC’s regular-season crown.

In the AP’s preseason poll, the Aggies came in at No. 23.

Cross Country
On Tuesday, Maddie Livingston was named the SEC’s Freshman Runner of the Week.

• Livingston placed 28th-overall in the field of 285 runners at the Arturo Barrios Invitational with a time 21:24.1.

The Aggies will run in the SEC Championships next Friday, October 29, at the Gans Creek Course in Columbia, Missouri.

Equestrian (1-1, 0-0 in SEC)
No. 5 Texas A&M begins SEC play on Friday against No. 9 South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

• The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. CT at the One Wood Farm and will not be televised.

Women’s Tennis
The doubles pairing of Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith finished the ITA Texas Regional as runners-up on Monday afternoon.

• In semifinal action vs. Texas’ Kyle Collins and Charlotte Chavatipon, the Aggies won in straight sets, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
• In the final, Makarova and Goldsmith fell to Baylor’s Alicia Herrero Linana and Mel Krywoj in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5.
