This has to be preseason right?? Lol
Texas A&M’s celebrated duo of Kenyon Green and DeMarvin Leal added to their lengthy list of accolades on Monday when they were named to the Associated Press All-American football team.
Green was a first team selection at guard along with Zion Johnson of Boston College. Leal was a first team selection as a defensive lineman along with Georgia’s Jordan Davis.
A repeat All-American, Green, of Humble, played at four different positions in the line this season, but ultimately settled in at left guard. He’s the first Aggie to earn All-American honors in consecutive seasons since Myles Garrett in 2015-16. The last A&M offensive lineman to earn back-to-back All-American mention was Jake Matthews in 2012-13.
Leal, of San Antonio, was a major force in an A&M defense that ranked third in the nation with 15.9 points allowed per game. He posted 58 tackles, 12.5 for loss and 8.5 sacks. He’s the third A&M defensive lineman to earn All-American acclaim since the Aggies joined the Southeastern Conference in 2012. He joins Garrett and Demontre Moore (2012).
Green and Leal were also named to the Football Writers Association of America and Walter Camp All-American teams. Both were All-SEC selections, too.
Green was a finalist for the Lombari Award, which goes to the nation’s premier lineman. Leal was a finalist for the Hendricks Award, which is presented to the nation’s top defensive end.
