On Saturday, two-time All-SEC running back Isaiah Spiller on became Texas A&M’s highest-drafted running back in eight years.

Spiller was selected in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Los Angeles Chargers.

He becomes A&M’s highest-drafted running back since Christine Michael was a second-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2013 draft.

Spiller is also only the third A&M running back taken since Michael. In 2019, Trayveon Williams was drafted in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Bengals, and Cullen Gillaspia was drafted in the seventh round by the Houston Texans.

Spiller, who earned All-SEC recognition in 2020 and 2021, came to A&M as a four-star prospect out of Klein Collins High School in 2019.

In three seasons, he rushed for 2,993 yards and 25 touchdowns and accumulated those totals despite sharing much of the rushing load with Devon Achane over his final two seasons.

Spiller leaves A&M as No. 7 on the all-time rushing charts with 2,993 yards, and he also had 74 receptions for 585 yards and one receiving touchdown in his career.

A member of A&M’s No. 4 ranked 2019 recruiting class, Spiller began his career as a backup to Jashaun Corbin. He rushed for 106 yards on just seven carries against Texas State in his first collegiate game.

However, Spiller did not break into the starting lineup until after Corbin suffered a season-ending injury against Clemson in the second game of the season.

Once in the starting lineup, Spiller never left. He rushed for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns as a freshman.

As a sophomore, he earned All-SEC honors after gaining 1,036 yards and scoring nine touchdowns in 10 games.

This past season, Spiller rushed for 1,011 yards, completed six touchdowns and caught 25 passes for 189 yards and a score. He caught an 18-yard touchdown pass with just 2:41 remaining in a 10-7 victory over Colorado.

Gig'em Spiller!
I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

Good for him. I was hoping he'd hang in so the Patriots could grab him.

Phenomenal offense and a young team on the rise. Hopefully Spiller can stick around for a few seasons.

Spiller should have stayed at A&M. The Aggies will have a strong season this year and his draft stock would have risen. Instead he was a 4th rounder. More kids need to realize that just because you can enter the draft early, it doesn't necessarily pay off to do so. He cost himself some significant cash.

I don't know that it would have risen. The NFL has 3 years of film of him. He is a very good back but not a great back and doesn't have great speed. Also, the NFL doesn't value RB's as much in the first round anymore unless you are just an amazing talent.

With RB, I think for them their thinking is I need to get out of college before I get too many miles on these knees.

Bad take, dad. He was the 3rd highest projected RB in the class. Very few RBs go in the 1st round unless we're talking generational talent.

You couldn't be more wrong. He was a good college RB. He was not gonna become Saquon Barkley (I.e. worthy of a first round pick) by staying another year.
Let's go, Brandon!
