Key notes from Olin’s thoughts on Cooper
- Edgerrin Cooper has as much athleticism as any linebacker that A&M has had in the last 10-12 years. He is fast and really delivers contact to knock you backward. You are hoping to see him take the next step in terms of being a good linebacker. Recognizing plays and filling in the holes. You can always get better.
- Last year was his first year as a starter. When you learn things, you get better. I would hope this year we will see the best version we have ever seen of Cooper.
- If A&M is going to be significantly better on run defense, they will have to be better up front but also at linebacker. One of the reasons is Edgerrin Cooper is an athletic, fast, strong guy that is now becoming more and more experienced. He does tend to make big plays.
- We remember the fumble he caused against LSU that changed that game. He had an interception. A&M only had four last year. I can remember in the win over Alabama two years ago, Alabama was looking at 3rd and 10 before they punted. Cooper blocked the pass.
- What you are looking for from Cooper is consistency. Consistency comes with experience.
