Tom Hart reacts to a chaotic weekend of CFP rankings, SEC basketball

It was a chaotic weekend of college football as the playoff rankings were announced, and the transfer portal is now officially open. SEC Network's Tom Hart joined TexAgs Radio to offer his thoughts on the CFP committee's decision and upsets for some SEC basketball squads.

• Chaos is the proper word to describe everything this weekend, even had upsets in college basketball too.
   
• There are a lot of issues with it. Leaving Florida State out is flawed and unfair. They are a team in a Power 5 conference that won every weekend. To take that opportunity way, I find it to be unfair. Yes, we have next year, but we have too many people to blame, including the ACC when they delayed the 12-team playoff. I know the committee tries hard, but it puts them in an unenviable position. Who would you least like to face? The answer is Georgia. There is a lot wrong with the process.
   
• I don't know if Alabama is playing like the No. 1 team in the county. Their talent has bailed them out. Jalen Milroe had seven completions in the first half against Georgia. Some of Alabama's best plays came from the quarterback run game. At some point, that becomes too predictable against elite opponents. Alabama did not look elite in the Auburn game and the passing game against Georgia. That was a cool matchup in what turned out to be an elimination game.
   
• Isn't it funny? All the Jim Harbaugh stuff that has happened, thanks to the selection committee, the guy that is under two investigations is overlooked. They are now the No. 1 team.
   
• There is nowhere to go for Florida State. They are nomads. The league that makes the most geographic sense does not want to add them. Florida is a roadblock. The way Florida State has acted has SEC folks turned off from them. The ACC did have a good season. FSU would have been better off saying, "How great is this league?" and then go be the undefeated champions of a great league. They were not going to play with the third-string quarterback in the playoffs. They went undefeated with their backups. There is unfairness there. 
   
• I give Texas credit. Their loss was the least damaging in my eyes. A neutral location, a last-second loss against Oklahoma. Texas was in control of Alabama. I know Aggies fans don't want to hear this, but they are in a good spot at quarterback. Steve Sarkisian started building from the inside out once they were headed to the SEC. 
   
• The selection committee devalued the regular season. Losses mean even less. I like that the SEC Championship was a defacto elimination game. It means more when a trip to the playoff is attached with a win. Kirby Smart and Georgia are not going away.
   
• Mike Elko was in a position where he could afford to be choosey. Some coaches at his age jump. He could have been the coach at Temple. He was on a track for bigger and better than Temple. A&M, once he left, turned into a .500 club with Jimbo Fisher. 
   
• Talent retention is one of the most valuable aspects now. They are reintroducing a guy who knows them and will vouch for him, which is incredibly valuable. It's more important to keep your guys than get new guys. 
   
• Total chaos in college basketball. Auburn lost to Appalachian State. Mississippi State was ranked and lost on the road to Southern. College basketball will be unpredictable because of the portal. The ACC/ SEC challenge was okay. Arkansas won against Duke. Duke lost again. Missouri had a loss to Jackson State.
