Southeastern Conference announces Texas A&M's 2024 football schedule

Followers of Texas A&M football already knew the 2024 season starts with a home game on Aug. 31 against Notre Dame and ends at Kyle Field on Nov. 30 against Texas.

The Aggies now know when they will play in between.

On Wednesday night, the Southeastern Conference announced the remaining schedules for league games next season.

The season-opener will match new A&M coach Mike Elko against his former quarterback at Duke. Riley Leonard transferred to Notre Dame last week.

Elko was also Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator in 2017.

Of course, the clash with Texas will be the return of a long, storied rivalry that was last played in 2011.

Alongside Notre Dame and Texas, the Aggies will play host to McNeese State (Sept. 7), Bowling Green (Sept. 21), New Mexico State (Nov. 16), LSU (Oct. 26) and Missouri (Oct. 5).

The LSU-A&M clash marks the first October clash between the rivals since 2012. Other than the 2020 pandemic year, it will be the first time since 2014 that the Aggies and Tigers won’t vie in the last game of the regular season.

The Aggies' first road game will be to Florida on Sept. 14. It’s A&M’s second trip to Gainesville since joining the SEC in 2012. A&M prevailed 19-17 in Gainesville in 2017.

A&M’s next conference game is against Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sept. 28. The Aggies have won 10 of 11 SEC games over the Razorbacks.

The following week Missouri travels to Kyle Field for the first time since 2014 when the Tigers won, 34-27.

A&M travels to Mississippi State on Oct. 19 and then returns to College Station to face LSU on Oct. 26.

In November, the Aggies are on the road to South Carolina. A&M leads that series 8-1 but lost on its last trip to Columbia.

On Nov. 23, A&M travels to Auburn, where they are 4-2, but lost 13-10 there in 2022.

We don't play alabama anymore? Sucks.
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

Zero reason this isn't at least a 8-4 season. Cupcake almost.

Because we can't have nice things and need to drop a trap game to a terrible team to knock us out of the playoff conversation before we play tu

I find it interesting how they scheduled the week before rival week (Nov 23 & 30).

The home team of the rivalry game is on the road the previous week, while the visiting rival team is at home the week before, except OU and LSU (not really known as rivals) who both play at home the week before.

7-5 or 6-6 if portal situation doesn't improve.
It's still Elkos first season. Gonna be some growing pains.

It's a pretty easy schedule, all of our big games are at home, and with the playoffs expanding to 12 teams there is a legit chance that we could be there, but maybe I'm being too hopeful. The 2025 schedule could be brutal with road games against Notre Dame, tu, and potential matchups with Bama, Georgia, and Ole Miss.

The more and more I look at this schedule, the more and more it doesn't make sense.

Why are LSU and OU playing on Rivalry Week? I get is and tu playing that weekend. OU should be playing Missouri (old Big8/XII natural rivalry), and LSU/Arky should return that weekend. None of this makes any sense. I don't think anyone in Missouri or Arkansas cares about their game, and certainly doesn't care if it's played on Rivalry Week. This was not a well thought out schedule.

OSU and KU need to nut up and play OU and MU respectively that weekend, and return their natural rivals. That makes it easy for A&M/tu and LSU/Arky.

And please dear God, if we go to 9 games, let's start SEC play with LSU, and end SEC play with tu.

Why were we so adamant about playing Texas at home in 2024? Playing in Baton Rouge and Austin every other year is gonna be hard as hell. Seems pretty short sighted.

2024 Season we are playing Bowling Green Falcons. I live in NW Ohio and about half the population of our small town went to Bowling Green. Needless to say, I am the only Aggie in my town (Marblehead), and likely in Ottawa County. I sub teach at our small rural school district. We are one campus: Pre-K thru 12. About 500 kids total and 100 staff. At least half our staff graduated from Bowling Green. We will likely come up with some fun bet between me and the other teachers that the kids will benefit having some fun with. But that week, I plan to wear all Aggie gear every day I teach. I'd also like to give out Aggie pencils to every kid/staff that week. So I need to find a source for about 600 to 650 Aggie pencils. Anyone on here produce those? Amazon didn't have any. I need to start now to find stuff to give out all week to kids. Open to ideas for that. All of this is self funded, so definitely let me know if you know of some sources for items! As a side note, the elementary principal is a huge Notre Dame fan, so likely one of us going to end up with pie in the face or something like that the next two years - LOL. Gig 'Em Aggies! feeling excited in Lakeside Marblehead.

Oh, but the following year we do get UGA, and Alabama, and Tennessee, and Oklahoma, and LSU as always.

Be careful what you wish for.

I have long been a proponent of 9 games, 4 team pods, perms from every pod, and rotate pod pairings for a division every two years. But no one listens to me.
