Texas A&M adds former Alabama CB Desmond Ricks via transfer portal
Upgrading the secondary has been a point of emphasis since Mike Elko arrived in College Station, and the Aggies have dipped into the transfer portal for another key addition as cornerback Desmond "Dezz" Ricks announced his plans to transfer from Alabama to Texas A&M.
As a true freshman in 2023, Ricks saw action in two games for the Crimson Tide. He will arrive in College Station as a redshirt freshman.
While Ricks had to bide his time in Tuscaloosa, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Ricks is highly-regarded for his size and cover skills.
Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, he prepped at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and was a five-star cornerback when he signed with Alabama in the 2023 class.
Ricks decided to enter the transfer portal following the departure of legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban, and he becomes Texas A&M’s 21st transfer addition of this portal window.
