Mike Evans to return to Aggieland for Charity Golf Event on April 27th

Former Texas A&M wide receiver and current member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mike Evan joined TexAgs Radio on Tuesday to provide information on the Tee-Off Bash on April 27th before reflecting on being an Aggie and sharing where he is at in his NFL career.

• I didn't even know we had a "Big Shots" facility in College Station, but I'm excited to get out there in April.
   
• College is important, especially if you're coming from a small area like I did. You get to experience a lot and meet people from different cultures and backgrounds. I met my wife in college. College is very important, and not everybody has the means to go. If you're working hard, I want to give you a little bit of help.
   
• A&M has been everything. They helped me become a better player. The fan base is the best I've ever experienced. They helped me become a man, and there are a bunch of different people that I met who helped me get to where I am today. I'll always be appreciative of Texas A&M University.
   
• I went to an A&M game last year. I come back sometimes, but it's always in and out. My wife's grandmother lives in Hearne, so we'll drive through and get some Fuego.
   
• I like Aggieland. It needs more cool stuff. There are a bunch of wonderful people in College Station. It's growing, and that's a beautiful thing to see.
   
• I didn't even see that we got a new Director of Athletics. I try my best to keep up with A&M, but as you get older and have more children, it gets difficult. Shoutout to the men's and women's basketball teams for making the NCAA Tournament, though. I was happy to see that they made it on both sides.
   
• Johnny Manziel and I have always had a great relationship. We have high praise for each other. One of the best college duos ever. I had a lot of fun playing with him, and he helped me get to where I am. He's one of the best players I've ever played with, for sure.
   
• I've been blessed with health. God has blessed me throughout my career. I've had veterans around me help teach me how important it is to take care of your body. The era we're in with medicine and trainers has helped me too. I've been blessed, but I'm also super competitive.
   
• Midway through my career, year five or six, was when I really realized that I needed to lock in because the Hall of Fame is something that every player wants to attain. Absolutely, I think about Canton, but I think about it mainly through doing what I do best: Working hard and playing the game.
   
• Randy Moss is the guy that I watched when I was younger, but Peyton Manning was my favorite player. The Colts were my favorite team. I watched them. Moss was always the guy I watched closest, though. He had a verb named after him, and he wore Jordans.
   
• I'm both a Michael Jordan and a LeBron James guy. I think LeBron is the best athlete of all time. He could probably play any sport if he wanted to. His size, mindset and versatility make him probably the best athlete we've ever seen.
   
• I've never been a free agent before, and I was about to be one. The Bucs and I were able to reach a deal, and I think it was a win-win situation for me. Going home would've been cool. I'm from Galveston and played at A&M. Houston's right in the middle of that. Everybody wanted me to be in Houston or play for the Chiefs, but at the end of the day, I just felt like I wanted to go back to Tampa. I just felt it. Tampa has shown me plenty of love, and it's a place I want to be for the rest of my career.
   
• Baker Mayfield surprised me a lot by who he is as a teammate and a leader. I wasn't surprised by his game, and I knew he was a good player. His playing style is similar to Manziel. Smaller quarterback, great athlete, throws a tight spiral. I'm looking forward to what we can do next year.
   
• There are too many memories of my time at Aggieland. Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is beating Alabama, and that's when Alabama was truly Alabama. They're still really good, but that was when they were head and shoulders above everybody else. The 2012 season was my favorite. I was probably better the next year, and our offense was probably better the next year. Our team in 2012 was really great. We were truly an underrated team.
   
• I'm texting Ryan Swope right now. It's me, him and Travis Labhart, and we're texting about the George Strait concert in College Station on June 15. I'm not a huge country fan, but I like all types of music. I definitely want to go if I'm free. I'm texting them to see if the three of us can get to that concert.
   
• Swope is my big bro for life. I made relationships with players, people on staff, students and people in the learning center. Aggieland is a home of genuine people, and Swope is just like that. He was super tough, and I learned so much from him in terms of being humble. He scored four touchdowns at Baylor, and all he wanted to do was drink a beer. I learned to remain humble and work hard from him.
   
• My golf game is terrible. I'm a true all-around athlete, but golf is not something I've spent much time around. I always do a golf event, but I've never really played.
