In a top-15 matchup, No. 13 Alabama shut out No. 12 Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, 2-0.

A pitchers duel ensued early on as Alabama’s fifth-year senior Kayla Beaver finished the day with six strikeouts while Emiley Kennedy recorded four.

Although the Aggies managed six hits on the day, they struggled to ignite a spark offensively. Alabama prevailed on just two hits and two runs.

The Tide pulled away in the second frame as Abby Duchscherer doubled to left center to score Jenna Johnson and Kinley Pate. Notoriously known for her accurate throws, Jazmine Hill was unable to catch Pate as she crossed home plate.

The Maroon & White failed to put any runners in scoring position but stranded eight runners.

In the third inning, Koko Wooley reached on a fielder’s choice as Amari Harper interfered with the second baseman trying to make the play. Hill then flew out to right field and Wooley was called out for leaving early trying to steal second.

The Aggies did all they could to limit Alabama in response to the two runs they scored in the second inning.

The remainder of the game proved to be uneventful as both teams made routine plays on the field, and the Aggies ultimately failed to put any runs on the board.

Texas A&M will look to respond on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT.
