Aggies in Omaha? Good.
For the eighth time in program history, Texas A&M is headed to Omaha!
Behind a massive nine-run seventh, the Aggies punched their tickets to the 2024 Men’s College World Series by taking down Oregon 15-9 to sweep the Bryan-College Station Regional.
It will be A&M’s second appearance in Jim Schlossnagle’s three years at the helm.
On Sunday, Olsen Magic was alive and well.
Trailing by four entering the late innings, the Aggies rallied to erase a second auspicious beginning to a ballgame in as many nights.
In a 41-minute half inning, A&M scored nine runs on just two hits as Oregon pitching walked seven and hit another.
Kaeden Kent notched the only two knocks of the frame, the second being a grand slam to Section 12 that sent the 7,934 at Blue Bell Park into a frenzy.
While they might have walked part of the way to Omaha, the son of a big leaguer slammed the door down.
An inning later, Hayden Schott launched a two-run homer to left for further insurance. The Columbia transfer finished 4-for-4 with four runs driven in on the night and a ridiculous 7-for-9 with seven RBIs for the series.
Behind abbreviated outings from six other arms, National Stopper of the Year finalist Evan Aschenbeck turned out the lights on an incredible 38-3 home slate in 2024.
A night after throwing 22 pitches to seal Game 1, the Brenham Bell Cow allowed one run on two hits to earn the three-inning save and send the Ags to America’s Heartland.
More to come shortly.
