Texas A&M adds former Florida DE T.J. Searcy via transfer portal
The Aggies now have another addition through the transfer portal as they gain a commitment from former Florida pass-rusher T.J. Searcy.
Originally hailing from Thomaston, Georgia, where he attended Upson-Lee High School, Searcy ultimately chose the Gators over Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State and Michigan, among many other offers.
As a freshman in 2023, he finished with 26 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 0.5 sacks, two hurries and one forced fumble on his way to earning Freshman All-SEC honors. When the Gators faced South Carolina that year, he finished with 1.5 TFLs and forced a quarterback hurry that set up the eventual game-winning interception.
In 2024, Searcy improved his production, totaling 34 tackles, four TFLs, two sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry before entering the portal.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 262 pounds, he is the ninth addition through the portal ranks and the first pass rusher for Mike Elko and the Aggies. Defensive line coach Sean Spencer was his original recruiter for the Gators, and they have now reunited in Aggieland in a move to help replace production from two NFL Draft declarations and three outgoing portal losses at the edge rusher position.
Stay tuned. We will have more for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.
