Continuing the JoAnne Graf Classic in Tallahassee, Florida, No. 6 Texas A&M fought tirelessly on No. 8 Florida State’s home field on Saturday night, taking both contests over the top-10 foe. The Aggies took the opener 6-3 in extra innings before winning the nightcap 11-4.

In the first game, the Aggies persevered through eight innings to overcome the Seminoles’ early three-run lead.

An out-of-character day from Emiley Kennedy, “Lefty” gave up six hits through three innings of work as Ole Miss transfer Grace Sparks took over in the circle.

Down 3-0, A&M’s comeback effort kicked off with a solo shot from Allie Enright, the Aggies’ first home run of the day.

Keeping the momentum rolling into the fifth inning, Frankie Vrazel singled to left field. Soon after, Florida State’s Julia Apsel stepped in to pitch for Annabelle Widra.

Thanks to the powerful bat of transfer Mac Barbara, a double to left scored Kramer Eschete and Vrazel, tying the game 3-3.

Transfer slugger Mac Barbara logged five RBIs in Saturday’s doubleheader.

Deadlocked after seven, the Aggies and Seminoles went into extra innings.

In the eighth, Kennedy Powell singled to the right-center gap, plating Gracyn Coleman and giving A&M its first lead of the day.

A hard-hit two-run single from Barbara increased the Aggies’ advantage to 6-3. Barbara finished with four RBIs in game one.

A key part in the Aggies’ success, Sparks shut down the home squad in the bottom of the inning.

Just 30 minutes after the extra-inning affair, the Aggies and the Seminoles went head-to-head once again.

In the first inning, both teams went down quietly, with no runs scored and only a couple of base runners each. Solid pitching and quick outs set the tone for what appeared to be a tight contest early on.

However, A&M’s bats woke up and stayed awake.

The top of the second proved to be productive for the Maroon & White.

Florida State’s Makenna Reid issued three straight walks and an RBI groundout from Eschete scored KK Dement.

Powell and Barbara reached on fielder’s choices, as the San Diego State transfer registered her fifth and final RBI of the day.

Another walk, hit by pitch and a double from Enright allowed the Aggies to jump out to a 6-0 lead.

Soon after, Eschete singled in the third inning, allowing Dement to head home, bringing the score to 7-0.

In the circle, Sidne Peters held the Seminoles scoreless through four innings.

During the top of the fifth inning, a double from Perez and a single from Amari Harper allowed the lead to swell into double digits.

Yet, Florida State fought in the bottom of the frame to avoid the run-rule.

Peters’ night ended after giving up back-to-back singles. Freshman Kate Munnerlyn entered the circle as the Seminoles plated four.

In the top of the seventh, Mya Perez homered to put an 11th Aggie run on the board and cap off a successful Saturday.

Now 14-1, the No. 6 Aggies look forward to Sunday in hopes of a clean sweep at the JoAnne Graf Classic, taking on Southeastern Louisiana at 9 a.m. CT.
