Julian Reid qualified for the long jump finals by posting the 2nd best jump.

Men's relay team posted a 39.13 to win their heat and post the 2nd fastest qualifying time (behind LSU at 39.11).

Phiri did not run the prelim. I haven't been keeping up, what is his status for this meet?

Phiri did not run in the 100 qualifying. That puts us out of any chance of winning on the men's side. A top 5 finish is probably the goal at this point. Too bad, everything was lined up to do pretty well.

Lookin good so far...Simone won her heat and obviously let off at then end so don't worry.

My brother throws discus tomorrow. Thought it was today, but ncaa site says Thurs. Here is hoping he throws his best ever. He has launched some big time throws in practice, but not yet been able to duplicate it in the meet. Say some prayers for his success and others.

jhunt, they have the discuss throws up, I just checked.

LSU will definitely win the Men's title.
However, the chase to the Women's title will be a close one b/t the Aggies and Tigers.

If we can just finish one place behind them or better in both relays, we should win the Women's title. However, it still will be close.

Anything can (and will) happen at Nationals.

Well, I can't say that I would feel bad after finishing in the top 20 among all collegiate athletes.

Women:
For us to have a good chance to win, it would help us greatly if the following would happen:

In the dashes (100, 200, 400), we score at least 20 points more than LSU.
If Porscha Lucas had made the 100 finals, this would have been much easier.

LSU gets less than 22 points in the 800 and the hurdles.

We do no worse than finishing just one place behind LSU in both relays. The 4x100 is going to be the best race of the entire meet.

Yasmine Regis does well (1, 2, or 3) in the triple jump.

Tooombs is right. Tell your brother everyone is really proud of him!

Televised or not tonight. I read earlier in the week CBS was having it on from 7:30 to 10:30. My guide on comcast has ghost whisperer or something.

It will be on CBS College Sports, which used to be CSTV. If you have the sports pack on Directv, you get this channel. Looks like it is on from 8-11 (ET).

Men's 4x400 had top time. LSU did not make finals.

What happened? They had the horses to make it.

They came in two seconds out of 8th place. That was a poor showing on their part.

i know next to nothing about track and field... is there any way to gauge how we are doing as a team, or do you realistically have to wait until the end? if there is a way, how are we doing?

At this point, it's more of just following the prelims and filed events to make sure you are not out of the running. As soon as the finals start rolling around (tonight) predictions will actually mean something.

and FYI, we are doing really good on the women's side (minus one somewhat minor setback) but still too early IMO to tell how things are probably going to turn out.

hey everyone. this is the brother of jt2hunt. i would just like to say thanks to everyone checking on this thread and to all who support aggie tracksters....and thanks bro! it was exciting to throw against the best in the country but i would feel better if i could trade my warmup throws for my two legal throws...but thats the beauty of throwing. its been a pleasure throwing for atm the last 5 years and im so thankful for all of my success. im proud of being a walk-on that worked his way up to being atm's top thrower for the last 3 years. ive had some great teammates and great coaches and they have all been a family to me. thanks and gig'em! -joshicus-
