There is no question that nearly all the guys that Steve and Bob recruit have the aspiration of playing pro tennis. It is certainly a big part of our recruiting, and realistically Conor will be the first to come out of the program with a good chance of moving forward. (I know Conor was recruited by Tim, but he has had three years with Steve and Bob...and no slam on Bret,Bryan, and John who all have played or are playing (see Bret) as pros.) Conor has been the gold standard of what you would want your tennis captain and no. 1 player to be, and he will graduate, play in the NCAA's as a senior, and be ready to make a run at the next level. With regard to Austin, I remember what Brian Vehaley told an A&M player who was thinking of turning pro....words to the effect that if you win the NCAA's and are clearly the most dominant player in college tennis, then you may be ready...if not....keep working and get your degree. Good advise then, and good advise now. Finally, if Austin was thinking of leaving I doubt if he would be working as hard with recruiting a certain player, that we would all like to sign. All that said, things can change in a twinkling of an eye....so stay tuned.
