I am reasonably certain it was Jarmere. He was all over the tennis center, and I'm sure he had access to the courts when the match got down to the final few moments.

Just types negative crap about every game. He hopes everyone will be happy and forget his comments if we win and can say I told you so if we lose.

He is an idiot

Klegou won his first match. He plays Travis Helgeson this morning.

Lets leave Jessie alone. Hopefully he will get more involved in the program and change his mind about some things. Much of what he has posted is factual, but clearly his attitude has been correctly perceived as negative. He is, I'm sure, hoping for the best for the kids and coaches.

I have heard there is a chance Austin will go to the ATP next year.

While I guess anything is possible, I think it is highly unlikely.

I didn't even post on the Football board today. At least, I don't think I did. Enlighten me...

Looks like a pretty good doubles team. Hope we get to see them next year. Things are progressing nicely.

BTW, I saw Klegu tonight. he beat Hegelson in the second round...lost in the third, but still pretty awsome, all things considered.

Anyone know who won in the Pollock/Krajicek match??

With the weather I really doubt if it was played. Saw Austin last night and no mention of the match and Conor was out of town.

Klegou lost to Lester Cook in the semis.

Klegou has the potential to be another Conor Pollock for us. Looking forward to 3 years with that guy on our side

I heard this rumor too. I believe it was started by the British kid from t.u. who was tired of getting his a** kicked.

There is no question that nearly all the guys that Steve and Bob recruit have the aspiration of playing pro tennis. It is certainly a big part of our recruiting, and realistically Conor will be the first to come out of the program with a good chance of moving forward. (I know Conor was recruited by Tim, but he has had three years with Steve and Bob...and no slam on Bret,Bryan, and John who all have played or are playing (see Bret) as pros.) Conor has been the gold standard of what you would want your tennis captain and no. 1 player to be, and he will graduate, play in the NCAA's as a senior, and be ready to make a run at the next level. With regard to Austin, I remember what Brian Vehaley told an A&M player who was thinking of turning pro....words to the effect that if you win the NCAA's and are clearly the most dominant player in college tennis, then you may be ready...if not....keep working and get your degree. Good advise then, and good advise now. Finally, if Austin was thinking of leaving I doubt if he would be working as hard with recruiting a certain player, that we would all like to sign. All that said, things can change in a twinkling of an eye....so stay tuned.

I think that last part is right on Raven. I think he'll at least want to stay to play doubles for a year with Jamere before moving on.

I think it's always a mistake for a tennis player to not get his degree before going pro, unless they have a solid plan in place to earn their degree while touring somehow. There's no guaranteed contracts in Tennis, even for the best players, so not getting your free degree is a mistake, in my opinion. CP is a great example. Stuck around, and is more highly regarded than ever and has a great degree with a great GPA just in case.

Do you think CP is more likely to catch on with a partner and focus on doubles like Denton, or focus on singles?

Guy has been a great captain. Some of our other players could pick up a thing or two from him. Never gets too high or too low, keeps his head in the match and focuses on getting the next point. I think this would lend itself more to doubles play at the next level, do you guys agree? Maybe he in Austin could link back up on the pro tour in the future?

I'd really like to know the stats on college guys
turning pro, early or late. I bet it's a very low
%age that actually make a living.
Hopefully, the information is made available to them that demonstrates the low probability of
financial success.
The Tennis Channel had a series on it and I was
really surprised how difficult it is to hit the
big time, much less, the small time.
By college guys I mean college, not college age.

I think everyone who plays at a fairly high level knows the odds of making a good living playing professional tennis. That doesn't and shouldn't deter many of them from chasing the dream. It is an incredibly tough business and very few can make a good living. Not anything like golf. In any event, I can assure you that Austin knows all about it, and he has great parental support and guidance, along with his coaches and friends, which makes for a good combination. Whatever Austin does will be well thought out.

It was postponed due to weather - I heard they are going to try and get it played after the NCAAs.

Thanks camden. Good stuff. I like the way this is beginning to set up. Still lots of tennis to play, however.

The good news is that we'll host for sure. No way we'll drop below 16 even if we lay an egg at conference. Best guesses for 2 seeds? LSU would be the obvious choice, but with Baylor and t.u. hosting as well, they might bring in some teams from out of our area.

Could be Rice as a 2 or 3 seed as well.

The conference tournament will determine many things concerning rounds one and two of the NCAAs.
Raven

Agreed Rush. I am hoping we will get three teams to Host in the round of 64. Would love to have three teams in the round of 16. Time will tell, but at least we have a chance.
