I can't believe it's time for Wimbledon again! It seems like yesterday I was watching the epic heartbreak of Roddick losing 16-14 in the 5th set of the final. Nadal is back on top, and men's tennis is getting even more exciting. More than ever, I want Roddick to do well here. Maybe with a little bit of luck he can finally get his 2nd slam.

And please, let someone who is not a Williams sister win the women's title this year.

What are your predictions?

Well, Roger has an extremely tough draw..or else he'd be my pick to face Nadal or Murray in the final.

However, he dropped his opening set this morning in his first match and is really struggling to take control. Falla is playing great tennis but Fed just doesn't look the same. Needs some confidence.

I really think it's wide open on the men's side this year.

getting very real now. Fed had a chance to break, but choked away some points and goes down 5-3 in the 4th(edit)

Fed holds. 5-4 4th set.

Falla can serve it out here.

falla isn't even having to work here..Federer is doing all the screwing up for him...

Falla misses the line with a chance to break right back...deuce.

Good grief, this is ridiculous. Roger needs a good slap in the face right now.

seriously...i'm waiting to hear that Rog has the flu or has a sore arm or something...his play is wildly inconsistent. It's been a while since i've seen this many errant shots out of him.

absolutely sick drop shot to hold at 6-5 for fed.

Falla will completely fall apart in the 5th. Right now he has to be killing himself mentally.

Well, as so many do against Fed, Falla feels the nerves and plays an awful tiebreak. There is no way that Roger should have ever been in this position. Falla has played well, but Roger does not look good right now.

huge comeback for Federer.

going to be very interesting to see what kind of game and focus he brings into his next match.

Well, thank goodness that's over! Let's hope Andy goes out there and dominates against Rajeev Ram. In other news, Mardy Fish beat the young Aussie Tomic in straights.

The only problem I would have had with Falla winning is that I don't think he would have been able to back it up later in the tournament against the other top players, especially with a slight injury.

agree completely. Even for those on the opposite end of the spectrum of me rooting for a Fed upset...I don't think Falla winning that would be the better result because he wasn't in condition to make a run if he would have won that.

Also, for the Roddick fans...I'd think Andy(and his fans) would feel a lot more pride and accomplishment if he were to defeat Federer in his run this year if he goes on one, especially after last year.

Also..kudos to Fed for completely giving him credit. Such a gracious winner and loser. Fed says he lost a few matches this year he should have won, and this is a match he should have lost. When almost baited into being able to say something wasn't right, or he was hurt or feeling a bit sick..he said "nope. I'm perfect." then when asked if it was his unforced errors, he said it was more Falla playing great tennis and completely neutralizing him.

Yep, I agree. Fed is always a class act, and I loved how he answered those questions.

Shoot, if I was Andy watching that match, my confidence would be boosted a little bit. Yes, Roger is the greatest ever, and we all know how he can turn up his game in an instant, but he did not look amazing today. And if Lleyton Hewitt can beat Fed (yes, even though it was best of 3 at Halle), Andy Roddick definitely can. Just my opinion, though.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
yup. I think Roddick, Hewitt and Djokovic are all in Roger's draw as well.

3 guys who can all pose a serious threat to him.

And as we've been saying all year, he's the best ever, but it's about that time where he's going to start struggling to dominate slams like he usually does. Sure, he'll probably make a run and win 2 or 3 more slams in the next couple of years, but the days of him effortlessly moving into the semi's of slams is over.

What ever happened to Safina? Injury? She seems to have fallen from grace rather quickly.
K Blaine11

Djokovic isn't going to be a threat to anyone if he doesn't get his act together pretty quickly... not a good opening match for him either.

And yeah, Safina has a back injury I think. She had all kinds of trouble handling the pressure of being at the top. I almost feel bad for her, but she's got the talent to really be a factor again once she comes back.

Djokovic pulls it out in the 5th. Tomorrow my boys Rafa, Soderling, Blake, and Isner are up. I wish Soderling didn't have to play American Robby Ginepri the first round, but oh well. Let's hope it's another exciting day on the grass!

James Blake is down a set and a break in the 2nd. He's one of my favorite players and I'm sad to see him playing poorly. Hopefully he can at least come back and have a decent hard court season.

Yep, James Blake is one of my favorites too. He just couldn't get going today. Nadal, Soderling, and Querrey breeze through, and Verdasco is upset by Fabio Fognini, the guy who beat Monfils at the French after that fiasco with continuing the match when all the light was gone.

Isner was not looking too great against Mahut, but he fought to win the 4th set in a tiebreak, and the match will resume tomorrow for the beginning of the 5th.
