You mean this Lotus Mark IV, that looks like the Iconic 7?

This is my Europa:

The Indy Racing League is full of morons, complete and utter morons. It's amazing that anyone can complete a race.

Congrats to RBR and Weber, a stirring drive and fabulous pass this morning.

I'm glad the weather cleared up. That new circuit at Silverstone is the stuff.

Gettn' a little ahead. This week is Hungary.
Next week Spa. My favorite track on the circuit.
Eau Rouge. The fastest complex in motorsports.

Hey Vitruvian - how's the parts market for your Europa? My ex got mine in the divorce - I sure have missed it all these years.

If you are an F1 fan you need to watch the Senna movie that ESPN2 is running.

watched SENNA last night. Wow, what a fabulous show!

Agreed. I was completely sucked in.

Those drivers' meetings with Balestre were insane. And I'll never forget the image of Martin Donnelly lying on the track still strapped to his seat.

I laughed at Rubens as the nervous rookie.

Been following F1 for many years but I didn't realize that Senna and Prost had such a dislike for each other.

Senna v Prost
McLaren teammates at one time. Senna, save Jim Clark, was the biggest loss for the sport. As if any loss is not meaningful.

Villeneuve v Pironi
They were both dead within a couple of years of each other.

Hamilton v Massa
Two prima donnas. Although, Massa, with a Barrichello spring to the head gets a pass. I think he could have been a world champion, especially in that Ferrari seat.

Props to Button, wire to wire, nice drive.
Why can’t the Lotus’ qualify? They were fast all weekend.
Voiding other first lap melees like today, Alonso wins the drivers championship.
I really thought Vettel would threepeat but it’s not going to happen. They just don’t have the pace at this point in the season.
RBR wins constructors though.
Kimi wins one before the end of the season, he’s just too fast not to.
Schumi should have stayed retired, he’s doing nothing but tarnishing his reputation.

What was up with Red Bull's alternators today? Did they get them at a salvage yard or something?

I believe that was the second alternator failure they have had his year. Renault makes the part I think.

I am trying to get into it as well. I have tickets to the race here in Austin and getting up to speed on the teams and drivers. I'm picking a driver and folllowing him.

Forget Formula 1. Head over to the Isle of Man in late May and early June for the Isle of Man TT.

In an island nation of 220 square miles (one of the British Isles, but not part of the UK), they close off a loop of roads 37 3/4 miles long for the race.

This year's Isle of Man TT went pretty well -- not a single racer died from the racing. They did lose five spectators, though.

In the Isle of Man GP in August, run over the same course, they lost two racers.

Last year they lost six racers between the TT and the GP. The first two deaths were a sidecar team where the driver was 67 years old and the passenger was 59 years old, if I remember correctly. And the last of the six racers who died last year was 71 years old riding a Norton.

Isle of Man is daring, but I just don't watch auto racing/motorsports because of its near death qualities. I don't want any part of it.

I can pop in a DVD of a fictional "death race" instead.

Good point.

I'm not interested in it for the "deaths", but because of its challenge. I think that it is unquestionably one of the most challenging motorsports events in the world today.

I've seen that on HDNet a few times. Hair-raising stuff. Especially the sidecar TT.

Did HDNet become The Velocity Channel?

There are four hour-long shows of this year's TT on The Velocity Channel on Thursday.

Yep. Hence all the "Overhaulin'" reruns, most of which I've already seen.

So the rumors were true: Hamilton replacing Schumacher at Mercedes. Also, Niki Lauda is joining the team in some capacity.

Perez joins Button at McLaren. We'll see what he can do in top equipment.
