Yet here you are posting away on an A&M messageboard on a thread about Olympic sports.

Your almost 1000 posts on an A&M messageboard in just over 4 months says you care about something much more than horn football.

Olympic sports. Period. Not Horn Olympic sports.

And no, I don't. Which shouldn't be hard for you to believe because it's probably true for you, too. Which is why no one is answering the basic question I posted.

And as long as our ad isn't losing money, I'm not sure why I'd care what they spend anyway. It's not coming out of my pocket.

Again, if you only care about horn football why are you posting numerous times on this thread that has nothing to do with horn football.

Again, nearly 1000 posts on an Texas A&M messageboard in four and half months says otherwise.

Oh, so that is why you are on a Texas A&M messageboard so much. You think it is an FAQ for horn football fans.

Personal opinion and nothing against the upcoming freshman class; however, Steve needs to start recruting a hell of a lot smarter. The past few years he has taken on large freshman classes of mediocre calibre (apart from the class of '14)He is spreading the wealth way too thin in terms of scholarships which then leaves him no room to snag these top recruits. To get a Missy Franklin level swimmer, full ride scholarships are going to have to be available.

If a Missy-type was available, don't doubt for a second that he'd find a way to give her what she wants from a scholarship standpoint.

I think with us going to the SEC (i.e. the SEC competitor limits), the team will end up being much smaller soon anyway. Not many folks want to train as hard as they do and not compete at the conference championship.

LOB,

The Texas men's team has a large roster and many of them don't compete at their conference meet. I think Steve likes to cast a wide recruiting net. He knows how to make good swimmers great and average swimmers good. Every now and then he'll get a swimmer that is relatively unknown and they'll be at NCAAs swimming fast in a year.

Hire her current coach as an asst if you have to. The publicity in 4 years would be worth doing whatever it takes to bring her here...

She just told Bob Costas that she wants to go to Cal, USC, Georgia, or Texas

Redd: Drat! As someone said earlier, her personality would be a great fit @ A&M! Family atmosphere, team atmosphere.

But I could see t.u. being in the mix since they just hired UGA's former Assistant.

I heard it too. Texas got rid of Brackin just in time for the chance to land her. Barf.

Her bf going there is what really improves their chances as well.

Maybe Bultman can convince her to visit Aggieland since she's coming to Texas anyway... c'mon Missy. You'd be a much better fit as an Aggie!

We have the team dynamic (and the coaching) she's wanting as much or better than the other schools she's looking at. Those schools just have more longstanding tradition. As much success as we've had, we're still the new kid on the block on the national scene.

Or go the insurance route some of these football guys do.

She's in swimming for the right reasons and I completely understand why she wants to go to school. The maturity it takes to see what the experience of collegiate swimming before having taken part makes her wise beyond her years. I respect the hell out of her for it.

LOB,

Agreee on the insurance for inury. However, what if she never performs to that level again?

Not being a gold medalist and elite athlete perhaps my perspective is a little different but the first time someone offers you a million bucks you take it.

She won't have that problem with Coach Bultman!

First of all, she didnt say Cal, USC, Georgia and Texas.

She said the first three were on her short list, then she added that she MIGHT take a trip to Texas and one other school who I don't recall.

By the way, she goes to a Jesuit high school- I assume she may be Catholic. Texas A&M has the largest Catholic student population of any school in the country, including Notre Dame.

It's no different than asking if a big-time football player ever performs to that level again. That said, she will. She's got the perfect mix of things you need to be truly great. Phelps may be gone, but we may have just seen the start of the female version.

By all accounts, Missy has not been overtrained like some elite swimmers at her age. She didn't swim for a program known for pounding yardage.

I have never watched her practice of course but I'd expect her to set records for the next 4-8 years.

Longevity isn't really common in women's swimming. I have no idea if she'll be great until 2020/2016 or world's next year.

On a different note

She's at an odd age where if she maintains her amateur status, the first time she can make $ will be in late 2017.
