What are the two teams projected to be ranked this coming season? Does anybody have the inside story?

For women we've got our 1, 2, 3 lines back plus Anna coming in as a fish. The 1,2,3 alone was what ranked us #19. No offense to our outgoing seniors but their winning percentage maybe hurt us from being higher in the polls. Just facts ladies, sorry. By having Anna that makes 4 ladies who've played #1 at some point in their college career or most likely would play coming in (Anna). On those facts alone we've got to be a top 20 team with great potential to move up once the matches start. If the recruiting goes as hoped look out below because the bombs will be a falling. Being in the SEC we'll be tested at every turn but my money will be on us the vast majority of the time (figuritively speaking of course, I'd NEVER bet against us or bet at all for that matter). All things considered I haven't looked as forward to a season like this since Nicki, Sarah, and Luby were seniors in '07.

The women actually finished 17 last year signem which was absolutely amazing because as you said they only had 3 good players. From everything that I have heard in regards to the recruiting for this upcoming season, next year will be even better.

The men should be about where they were last year and perhaps just a little better. They had plenty of good players last year but just didn't get the job done. I think they will be a little better this year but not by much.

tennisfan, signem was probably looking at the women's tennis site thinking it was accurate. But I'll take another two places on the national level especially after the way they fought in Michigan, what a heart break. Naz did everything she could but that gal she played just had one of those magical matches where if her racket touched the ball in the second and third set it hit a winner. Another thing signem didn't mention earlier, by virtue of having that 4th strong team member, it should take a ton of weight off the doubles. We should be strong again at #1 doubles anyway and give Naz and Anna a shot, I say watch out below too, SEC or no.

The Mens team should be quite a bit better than last year. They have the #1 & #3 recruits in the nation according to tennisrecruiting.net. They should be top 20 or so. The young guys are talented and should be better this year.

The women should be a top 10 contender based on the returning players and the new gals coming in. They are going to be loaded with talent from top to bottom.

Looking forward to both programs battling it out in the SEC. Let's go Aggies!

The men lost their top two recruits, by the way. Ward-Hibbert and Krueger turned pro

Shane Vinsant is #1 and Harrison Adams is #3. I saw on Harrison Adams twitter that he has changed his commitment to tu and has now committed to A&M.

Not sure how Vinsant is the #1 recruit when he isn't ranked #1 in juniors. Adams is class of 2013, not in the same rankings as Shane

This is what I am going by. Perhaps the RPI list is not the same, I am not sure. They are some of the best in the nation though. Harrsion Adams is listed as a recent graduate as well.

I guess when the top boys went pro, they got moved up. Good for Shane, hope he makes an impact here. Harrison is listed as a recent grad, but he is coming in the spring. I guess because he is graduating early, the changed him to a recent grad.

Did some research on the women's team. They will have Cristina Sanchez who should be ranked #3 or #4 in the preseason rankings. Christina Stancu will be top 20 or so. Sun Wen and Nazari Urbina will be both in the top 40 in the rankings as well. Anna Mamalat is one of the best incoming juniors in the nation. Stefania Hristov has a WTA ranking. Supposedly they have two more top ITF juniors coming in January as well. What a team this will be.

I received an email from Coach Joffe the other day as did many of the local tennis fans and I must say I am fired up about this coming season! Sounds like we are going to have one heck of a team! Howard seems like a very charismatic coach much like that of Tim Cass. The best years of tennis for me and many other aggie tennis followers were during the Cass years. The men's program was more successful with much larger fan support and the players and coaches conducted themselves with far better class back then. They were also much more involved with the tennis community. I have become more of a women's tennis fan and less of a men's tennis fan over the last several years. I think both programs could learn from the Cass years but it sure seems like Coach Joffe has a bit of that in him. Good luck to both the men and the women this year! Make us proud to be Aggies!

Just come out and say it, you hate Denton. Probably because he went to Texas.

By the way, who was behind the recent rule change fiasco? Yep, Tim Cass.

I'm looking forward to watching the women play this year. Coach Joffe and Mark complement each other extremely well, and the talent coming in as well as returning is unbelievable. Definitely SEC ready and undoubtedly going to be a good year for women's tennis!

Bigfoot my thoughts have nothing to do with the fact that Denton is a t sip and always will be. I have had this discussion many times over with mostly my adult friends in regards to how different the men's program is now. Denton hasn't done bad results wise, but we should be better. Cass had higher ranked teams, much better fan base, more charismatic and just a much more likeable person. I could name 30 - 40 people that agree with my sentiment. Denton comes off extremely arrogant to say the least. I do not dislike Denton. I still cheer on his teams. All I am saying is we could do better and he could do betterin many ways. Not saying Denton isn't capable of getting the job done. It just could be better in more ways than just winning. You can disagree with me all you want, but I can assure you that many others share my views. I have had numerous discussions with others that are in agreement with me.

I am not necessarily disagreeing with you, I can see your point.

However, I bet if Denton could get a team to the quarters or semis of nationals, no one would give a crap about how he acts with fans. Winning solves everything.

Glad you have a lot of friends that agree with you on this. I do to a point. I knew Cass quite well. He was very friendly until you couldn't help him anymore, then he was done with you. But he was a schmoozer, that is for sure.

So is this the real Lauren Santacroce? I do agree with you whoever you are! Going to be a great year for the women and no doubt Howard and Mark do complement each other perfectly! Howard seems to really bring out Mark's talents much more than Kleinecke ever did although Mark did seem to be getting better and better towards the end of the Kleinecke years. I believe Kleinecke's personality was far too overbearing and domineering and didn't allow Mark to shine the way he seems to be now. They do make a great team and hope that they are planning on sticking it out for a while.

Joffe looks to be one of the best recruiters there are so far. Hope he can keep it up! We are losing our top 3 from last year and they will be very hard to replace!

tennisfan, do you really think someone would drop their guard on an anonymous website. Besides, only her hairdresser knows for sure. This season will be one for the ages. With addition of Cristina Stancu that makes 5 players now who've played #1 line at some point in their career. The gal coming in from New Mexico (originally from Buda) looks to be a doubles specialist. The other two international players have already made marks for themselves in Europe. And the recruiting mill is turning at a feverish pace to cover the loses we'll suffer NEXT May. This incoming class should break a lot of records given everybody stays healthy and we keep them happy playing here. It sure would be nice to have people show up and cheer these ladies on, and when you come bring your neighbors. My God, at Michigan they had twice as many as we usually have. I don't know why they didn't challenge us for that attendance award a couple of years back.

I have noticed Mr Bigfoot that everytime somebody disagrees with you you accuse them of being the same person as somebody else. For the record two different people. Are you really that insecure? What does it matter to you anyways?

Did you not say this?
You don't go to college to practice with guys to make you better. You go to play the best in the nation (and in some cases, international players who play college ball) and improve your game.

I love when someone pulls the "Denton Lovers" card. Reminds me of Aggie11 or XIAggie always saying "BK Lover"

Well that was easy.

No, you don't go to practice with bad players. But I would think a year or two playing some great college players would be way better than getting drilled on the lowest level of the tour. Maybe in wrong.

Like someone said in CS, if he's so good, why not come win a national championship and prove it.

Maybe the Aggie11 or XIAggie comment struck a chord too...

I think Joffe is one of the best coaches in the country and the women's program is about to go to the next level soon.

Denton on the other hand has been a disappointment and has wasted a lot of talent, especially in 2011. I don't think he'll ever do more than make the Round of 16 at A&M.

Joffe is recruiting very well right now, and this year should be a lot of fun to watch.

Denton has caught some tough breaks in recruiting, losing Jenkins to UVA two years ago, and having two guys go pro this year that would have made us immediate contenders. Hope his luck changes soon.

For the record, when Cass was here, he had some really solid teams, and only made it past round of 16 once. Very very hard to break into those top 8 teams. They seem to be the same every year

Jenkins to Virginia comment

Sorry guys but I have returned!

Bigfoot do you really think that every coach should get their wish list every year? Losing out on Jenkins. Come on! He went to Virginia because they have a much better program by far!

Krueger would have gone to college if he chose one of the big schools I can almost guarantee you. Who the hell is Hibbert anyways? Just because he turned pro doesn't mean he is any good. I might turn pro tomorrow now that I think about it.

13 current or former college kids in the US Open and not a single one of them came through A&M or Denton for that matter.

Joshua Ward-Hibbert, as high as 14 in ITF juniors. Signed an LOI with A&M in May then turned pro. But you're right, he probably wasn't that good.

For someone who follows Aggie tennis as much as you do, I would have thought you'd have known who he was. Guess you don't follow them as much as you say.
