Still needs the $....silva not getting Boxing, NBA, MLB, or NFL $.
Heading into this fight it was estimated that he had only earned $2.8 million in the ring, not including sponsorships or fight bonuses.
Silva's made that in show and bonus money, but there's no way that includes his PPV share. Guys like Silva, GSP, Bones Jones generally make about 10% of the Zuffa's net on PPV's as well as other behind the scene incentives paid by Zuffa to take a fight. For instance, Silva's listed pay is at $200k per the NV athletic commission. Rumor is Zuffa paid him $2MM to accept the fight beyond that. Beyond that, the UFC usually nets about a quarter of the proceeds of all PPV buys in profit.
Most marquee fighters would be paid a PPV bonus in that situation of:
925000 (Silva/Sonnen rematch buyrate) * 45 (PPV cost) * .25 (UFC take) * .1 (their take) = $1.04MM
In short, just for the second Sonnen fight, Silva made between 2.25 and 3.25 MM before his Nike and Burger King sponsorships. In reality, he's made much more than $2.8MM over his career on just fights and I guarantee you his net worth is more than $10MM. The MMA fighters benefit a great deal from the structure of the organization of hiding their actual net worth. That said, they are still paid way less than comparable boxers obviously. That said:

It's a ****ing joke what UFC pays its fighters. They need to collectively bargain if they ever want a fair shake.
2 factors there. One is that there simply isn't as much money in MMA as there is in boxing. 2nd is the reason the Mayweathers, Pacquiaos, and other fighters of the world make so much money is that they are throwing up 4 to 5 figures of their OWN money to promote the fight along with their promoters. As such, they generally share the gate and a much larger share of the PPV money. The fighters actually take on much of the risk of the event whereas Zuffa brunts all of it on their shoulders.
If GSP and Silva and the other fighters shared in the upfront investment, they'd probably see closer to 5 figures a fight vs. 1-3 MM a fight.
