Based on Best Performances, the TOP 5 ranked teams would earn the following points

MEN:
1. Florida – 49
2. Arkansas – 37
3. Texas A&M – 40
4. Oregon – 27
5. Wisconsin – 32

WOMEN:
1. Florida – 47
2. Oregon – 50
3. Texas A&M – 42
4. Georgia – 41
5. Arkansas – 15

Not sure if I calculated correctly. I did not calculate ties. Trini, please check and correct. You know a lot about this.

The men’s points may not reach that high, depending a lot on if Hardy shows up or not. Eleven of the projected points are his.

Mid. You are spot on. The only change is that A&M women could end up with 43 points instead of 42 if we consider ties.
I also agree with you about Prezel Hardy. We cannot count too much on those points. Since he ran those times when he was sick, he hasn't ran anything close to that since. Any points we can get from him we will be grateful. We hope that Wayne Davis bring in some points in the 60 hurdles. Right now he is in 9th place. Our other 200m runners must do exceptionally well. This is where most of our points would come. I notice Florida Arman Hall is doubling the 200m and 400m. Lets see how well he does it because that's a potential of 16 points for him in both events.
On the women side Kamaria Brown is not doing the 200m and 400m double which is a lost of a possible 10 points. It is really hard to double since the races are so close to each other. We would need her on the relay as well. The 60m and 200m women have to really dominate for us to reach the top. Also LaQue Moen Davis has to give us points in both long and triple jumps. Brea must finish either 1st or 2nd in the weight throw.
I guess it is anybody race at this time. One bad event for someone and the whole picture can change

Looks like Pat wants to win both 4 X 400 relays since Kamaria is only doing the 200 and then would be on the relay.

Just watched the indoor on ESPNU. Man, I can't believe the DQ on the women. Made me mad all over again.

Start list are out.

On a positive note, Shavez Hart got invited to the 60m after several withdrawals, so now we have two guys in the 60m.

Coach Henry said his team is ready.

I watched the replay of the SEC Indoor Women’s 4x400 Relay a “zillion” times. This is my take.

Redd38 was correct. The Appeals Committee members knew exactly what they were doing - taking the Championship trophy away from the Aggies and giving it to Florida.

Indisputable facts of the relay race:
Runner 2 leads Runner 1 at the start of the final leg. On the last backstretch, Runner 1 passes Runner 2 and moves over into Lane 1 (the inside lane) in front of Runner 2. Runner 1 and Runner 2 continue to run in Lane 1 for several strides including into the final curve.

As they near the end of the final curve, both continue to run in Lane 1. Runner 2 pushes up to Runner 1 and bumps her from behind knocking Runner 1 off-balance and into Lane 2. Runner 2, without breaking stride, continues to run to the finish line ahead of Runner 1 and wins the race. Runner 1 regains her balance and completes the race in second place.

The judge signals that Runner 2 fouled Runner 1 from behind. Runner 2's team, seeking to be declared the Champions of the meet, filed a protest claiming Runner 2 was impeded by the runner in Lane 1 ahead of her - Runner 1. The Appeals Committee supported Runner 2 team's claim and awarded them the team trophy.

If this were a Supreme Court of Running ruling, the new rule would be entitled the “Bump and Run Rule of Impeding Runners.”

“No matter if a runner is occupying the inside lane in a running race, a runner from behind is allowed to bump into the back of the runner in front in order for him or her to gain a better position on the track. The runner bumped will be considered to have impeded the runner behind him or her and will thus be automatically disqualified.”

There is not an impartial appeals committee in the world that would support this decision. Can you imagine the ciaos on the track if this were allowed in all running races? Runners will become reluctant to be in front of other runners in a race knowing that if someone bumps them from behind, they will not only loose the race and may be injured, they will actually be disqualified.

Future: The “Bump and Run Rule of Impeding Runners” will eventually be known as the “SEC-Gator Rule.” Then, due to too many injuries to runners, the rule will be changed so that the rule applies only to runners in Lane 1. This will allow runners to run around the track in outer lanes without fear of being disqualified.

What precedent has this three-member SEC Appeals Committee set for, I hope, no one else to ever follow?

You are spot on Mid. The projected scores are correct

On the women side, I think we can do better. All three Aggie women must make the 200m finals and give us 15 plus points. Ashton Purvis is in 9th spot in the 200m She made the finals last year and placed 6th. Also she is in the same heat with Kamaria Brown which should be a fast heat. I hope she qualifies from this heat. The 4x400 can contend for first place with Kamaria Brown on the relay. This can give 8 or 10 points as opposed to 6. LaQue Moen Davis can give us extra points if she jumps well in the long and triple jumps. Brea must on the top of her game in the weight throw. She must maintain her lead. As I said one bad event and the entire results can change. From ist place to 3rd place in any event is a loss of 4 points which can cost you the championship.

On the men side I don't know if Prezel Hardy can really bring us 13 points. However, I expect Wayne Davis to bring us some extra points in the hurdles. He is currently 9th. Last year he was seeded 4th going into the championship and place 2nd in the finals. The 200m race will be interesting for the Aggie men. We have 4 men in this event and three are projected to score total of 12 points. This event can make or break us. If we can score more than 12 points in this event could give us a chance. Traditionally we have been very strong in 200m in previous years with Ameer Webb winning the last two indoor championships. Florida has a lot more scoring opportunities but again on the day anything is possible.Florida has two guys in the 200m with one doubling in the 400m as well. This is hard to do, so lets see how well he performs. He is projected 16 points (8 in 200m and 8 in 400m). Note that the preliminaries and finals of the 200m (2 races) and the preliminaries in the 400m ( 1 race)will be run today. He has two hours to run three difficult races. Same reason Kamaria Brown isn't doubling up at this year championship. Last year she tried it and did poorly in the 400m and finished 4th in the 200m

After today's preliminaries and a few finals we will have a better idea of the scoring prospects of the athletes.

All the best to all Aggie athletes competing.

I know Mid will do a projected score after today's first day of competition

Points for the Men are probably high due to 13 of the points (10 in the 60m and 3 in the 200m) are based on the best performances of Prezel Hardy. He has the season’s best time among runners in the 60m. However, over his past six races (which were in his last four meets), he has not ran any time that would even qualify him for the NCAAs.

Over those six races, he has not beaten anyone who made the NCAAs and has lost to some who didn’t. He did not qualify for the SEC 60m finals, so to expect him to qualify for the NCAAs and earn points for the Aggies may be a stretch.

I agree with you Mid. Prezel has not run well after his 6.56 run. What is even more alarming is that his next best time is 6.70 which is outside the top 30 60m times. 13 points seems a lot for him at this time

Let us still hope that he could find whatever he had in him that day when he ran 6.56, in the prelims today and finals tomorrow. If he can run it once, then he has the potential to replicate it. I hope it is today.
Shavez Hart has been improving with every meet. He may be the dark horse to score big points for us in the 60m and 200m.

Maybe the Pole Vaulter Chase Wolfle could spring a surprise and give us some points as well.

We will certainly see who is best prepared on the day. I really hope our Aggies are ready.

I saw the heat sheets for today. Kamaria Brown is running the inside lane in the heats of the 200. I guess they are not based on seeding but random draw.

Hopefully she can position herself well enough for the final.

Just some early results
Marcus Dendy Florida did not make the finals of the long jump. Loss of 5 plus points for Florida.
Wayne Davis Texas A&M, third best into the 60m hurdle finals. A potential 6 plus points for the Aggie Men

Arkansas with only one guy making the long jump final. Loss of big points. Arkansas expected 13 points in long jump.

Laque Moen Davis makes final of long jump presently in 7th position. Potential to score for us and give us plus points. She came in the NCAA in 16th position.

We lost the Hardy points but will gain the Davis points that wouldn't have been in the seeding so all is not lost. The men's side is still open and the 200 is still the key.

The 200m is the key for both men and women.
Florida best 800m runner Sean Obinwa didn't make the finals.
Oregon women lost lost 6 points in the long jump finishing 7th. Texas A&M long jumper score 1 point which is a plus point.

Brea is back in the lead in the weight throw after protest according to twitter.

Look out for Texas women. They advanced three strong 400m runners. One in the 60m and they won the Pole vault and is favored to win the relay 4 x 400.

Both Oregon and Florida women have good distance medley relays to score more points.

Kamaria must win the 200m and hope Ashton Purvis can give us an additional 4 or 5 points
