That'll do it for today, Ags!

I'll try to cover some of the action tomorrow, but I've been assigned to the soccer match, so I don't know if I'll get back out here. Regardless, I'll definitely be back Saturday for the final day of action!

Thanks and Gig'em!

Goodnight!

Thanks for the coverage Chase.

The women are swimming very very well. I am slightly bummed Stanford's relays are so much faster than ours. Much of their advantage in the 400 medley was one swimmer - Simone Manuel. Her 100 free is blisteringly fast. She would have beaten many men in the field. Bratton has gone faster in the 100 back so her opening leg was a bit slow. Our 200 free relay had three freshmen on it and missed the A cut by two tenths.

The women are super deep in the 200IM. I didn't expect that. Galat must still be looking for breaststroke speed but her other swims are excellent. I think her IM was a lifetime best - midway through her first semester. Gastaldello is an impressive freshman. I expect she'll continue to improve with more time in a short course pool.

Sarah Henry is doing just what we expect. I am impressed anytime anyone can race the 200IM like she does not long after she won the 500 free.

I don't know if we learned anything about the men yet other than they are far from where Stanford is. Stanford's A, B, and C relays beat our A 400 medley relay. I also don't know if our guys are rested or not. I'd guess a few are since Bolleter's times were solid. Why would they have Corazo, probably our best breaststroker, swim 500 free? Corazo's relay split of 56 was very ordinary. Hidden in the meet results are some promising swims like Turker's 100 fly relay split.

Friday should be very interesting since we see the strokes today.

I'm not disappointed in our relays one bit. Stanford, who has half of a potential U.S. Olympic Team freestyle relay will absolutely clean house at NCAA's in the free relays and we are trotting out a ton of slightly less-heralded freshmen (who are swimming very well). We are also missing arguably our best freestyler in Ibanez. We will be just fine.

Henry is a BEAST. That is one of the most, if not THE most, impressive double I've personally seen at an invite. Can't wait to see her 400 IM tonight.

Also, McMahon has taken her swimming to another level this year. Really good to see her step up, particularly in the breaststroke, in light of losing the GOAT at that stroke.

I must admit I'm really impressed with Grand Canyon's men. I expected nothing from them and outside of Stanford they are as competitive as any other team, especially in sprint free.

LOB - I'm disappointed in the relays only in that we didn't win them. We swam well. Very impressed with where the 200 free relay is with 3 freshmen. Ibanez is probably more important in the 400 free relay.

Simone Manuel might be the 100 free NCAA champion this year. I would not be surprised to see her crush the NCAA record (46.61).

Are the men rested?

I don't think it's possible for ANYONE to beat Stanford in the free relays this year, especially the 200 and 400. You have to remember they are the defending NCAA champ in both -- and that was WITHOUT Manuel who, based on last night, looks to be not only the best freestyle sprinter in the NCAA but is already staking a claim as one of the best in NCAA history. I HATE that she is from Houston and we couldn't get her with all our recent success but you can't really fault her for going to NorCal to get that Stanford education either.

I would say the men are probably more rested than what we are accustomed to from them this time of year but not even remotely close to fully. You have to remember they are very young too and the talent level vs. the women's team is not in the same area code.

Just to compare a few things for the men, rested or not.

Missouri is hosting an invite meet this weekend. Their 200 free and 400 medley relays both had an A cut. Four guys split under 19.6 in the 200 free relay. Their 400 medley relay would have beaten Stanford yesterday. Missouri's A, B, and C relays were faster than ours.

Four MU guys would have finished ahead of A&M in the mens 500 free. Same with mens 200IM.

I'm sorry but this pisses me off.

Terrific morning for ladies.

What an IM group we have:

Bratton, Henry, Galat are 1-2-3 in the 400 IM. Shuchhar is 6th. Three of those four are freshmen.

Gastaldello is the only Aggie in the 100 fly A final, but we have five in the B final.

In 200 free we have #3, #5, #5 (tie), and #7 in the A final. Henry's 1:46 crushes her 2013 season best of 1:49. All without Ibanez.

Galat has to feel good about her 1:00.3 in the 100 breast for 3rd fastest. That is by far her fastest of the season and better than her relay split from last night. Maybe her confidence is rising after her 200 IM swim. Four Aggies in the A final of 100 breast. LOB is right - McMahon is swimming very well.

Gastaldello #3 in 100 back, with Benjamin and Brandt at #7 and #8. Bratton was 9th.

The women's team race with Stanford is likely to tighten up tonight and possibly change order.

The men did nothing special. Duplechain's 400IM at #5 is solid. Only one guy in top 16 in 100 fly. Turker slid from a 48+ relay split to 50.3 flat start. One Aggie in the top 16 in 200 free. No Aggies in the top 16 in 100 breast. What happened to Castillo?

The best event of the morning for the men was 100 back with three in top 16 including Theocharidis at #8.
