That was quick. He had done wonders for the Women's Team.

They couldn't hire anyone else and opened up the checkbook to save face. I mean the rice coach turned them down twice last year.

Howard posted a letter on the women's tennis fb page. Explains the move.

Texas finally funded the new tennis center. That certainly helps

It sucks to lose a coach who was actually good at his job. His message talks about his private life being the main reason for the move. What does that mean? Do we not allow him to have one or does Austin just give him more opportunities (from the tone and his bio, I take that he is single)?

And hyman sucks either way.

They certainly do. It is too bad because he was very good for us. I fully expect Hyman to screw up the hire. Hell, he probably won't even make one.

I heard through the grapevine that Howard will be taking Mark with him. I guess I couldn't blame either one of them for that. They seem to work very well together to say the least.

Quite sure he is not gay, but Austin would be the right place if he was. I don't know what is worse, the fact that Denton is a longhorn or Joffe is now a longhorn.

Pretty awful news! I hope Hyman can come up with a good hire. I think we will run into the same trouble that tu did. The top coaches don't want to leave their jobs and it will be slim pickens this late in the ball game. If the new coach can keep this team together they should have another really good year. But, my guess is the team will break away and it will be a downward fall for the next several years.

Weaver has been in bcs area for awhile would be surprised if he left.

Is Joffe Gay??

The article from KBTX had his "Open Letter" to TAMU that said something to the effect that he was 43, and needed to seek a meaningful personal relationship so Austin was the obvious place to go.

The whole thing is weird. Oh, and Hymen sux.

Damn good coach and recruiter. Hate to see him leave especially to tu, Can Hymen go with him?

Not happy at all about Joffe leaving for tu, but how is this turning into a gay thing? He is dating a female in Austin I know that for fact. Hate to break everyone's bubble, but there are gays everywhere you look in College Station nowadays. You don't have to move to Austin to fulfill that anymore.

It's turning into a gay things because the collective IQ of the posters on the Old Rivalries board is less than the IQ of a virus.

Tennis might not have been a "BIG" sport at TAMU, but it did have its following and our program is pretty darn good. The next hire is squarely Hyman's opportunity to get someone who will continue the success we have had and not let the program slip...Eric, are you listening?

Disappointing to see him leave. He almost won a national championship 2 years ago and took the team to the top level of collegiate tennis. He was always appreciative of anyone who came to watch.

HYMEN

First of all, please let's drop the gay argument. Howard is NOT gay. Second, I'm with bbb, Mark has had his wait, it's time to give him the reins let him get on the horse and ride like hell. Bobby found him, Howard groomed him, now it's his turn to show us what an Aggie can really do when given the proper controls. Ask the girls, they will tell you (everyone of them) that Mark is the most calming effect on the court and allows them to breathe. I agree if he doesn't get this call, and I were him I'd start looking to get a change of scenery. Not because he would want to but he has to do what's best for he and his family. That gal at Rice has done some impressive things, no doubt, but I still think has her beat every way and seven times on Sunday.
