Desrosiers ran a 53.53 but faded down the stretch. By the end of the season I can see her run mid 51. Jarra Owens ran solid early season 55.5. Just need to find a 4th for the 4x4.

Insane debut for Brazier. That's the kind of time that might be an NCAA leader going in to the indoor national meet.

Wow. That's an amazing time for this early in the year.

I thought it was a good meet with a nice crowd. Probably helped that a lot of Texas teams were here and athletes families were able to attend. Shamier Little only did 1 event, and neither Karis Jochen or Kelsey Warren competed. I was also looking for Ally Watt from the soccer team because I heard she would be on the track this spring. The time by Brazier was unreal. Great recruiting by Pat Henry.

I think Ally Watt is still training with the U-20 soccer team. The men look pretty good all around. Just need some find some short sprinting depth after Devin. The women need some work in the field events. Our sprinters are good but even if we ran Shamier, Ally, and Karis ran we'd still finish behind tu. But it was a good start and time to build on it.

Anyone know what's up with Eric Age? He's on the Direct Athletics roster but not the Aggie Athletics roster.

No information from me on Eric Age other than the fact that he is in the A&M student directory.

Eric Age's name is on the roster posted at tfrrs.com (NCAA'S track and field mark reporting site)

Age, Eric
FR-1

PS: perhaps he became a last minute red shirt candidate

Donavan Brazier is all over track discussion boards! Here is the front page from letsrun.com

Quote Of The Day

"I've never run anything faster than 1:46 indoors or outdoors. My coach (assistant coach Alleyne Francique) wanted me to go 1:47 in this meet, but he said 1:47 or better. I was happy with 1:45, obviously."
"My coach is crazy, he wants us to go out in 51. I wasn't too nervous coming through in 51 at the 400 split since that is what we train for. I didn't think I was going to hang on that well. My last 800 was in Oregon, six months ago, so I was very eager to step on the track again for an 800."

Texas A&M true freshman Donavan Brazier, after destroying the 33-year-old US junior 800 mark of 1:47.84 by running 1:45.93 in his collegiate 800 debut.
MB: OMG. America's newest star has arrived!! True frosh Donavan Brazier runs 1:45.93 in first-ever collegiate 800!!
MB From Last Year: 2015 MB: I just got a text from a top HS coach: "Grant Fisher is not the best kid in Michigan." LetsRun, meet Donavan Brazier
2015 MB:
It's official: Donavan Brazier (45.92r, 1:48.07, 4:09) not Grant Fisher, is the most talented HSer in Michigan this year

It will be interesting to see how the coaches handle this talented frosh. This being an Olympic year, and with this performance, (he is now in the mix for the American team in the 800) will they use him less than the usually would? It's a loooong season (indoor and outdoor) and it will be interesting to see how they handle his development. I trust they'll make the right decisions.

I agree that the women don't have much depth nor potential scorers in the field events (SP, TJ, LJ, WT. HJ).

The men have a little more depth and potential scorers in LJ, TJ, PV. I hope Wil Willams do in fact enroll this spring because he could be an immediate scorer in the LJ

We don't even good sprint hurdllers. Two top hurdlers in Texas Tonea Marshall and Alexis Duncan going to LSU and UT respectively. Over the years we always had a couple of good sprint hurdlers

It would be nice to see Ally Watt run indoors but I guess her immediate plans is make the US U20 women's team for the world cup later this year

Long Jumper Wil Williams is now listed on our roster on Direct athletics

It seems that he is enrolled and ready to go.
We will see if he competes this weekend

The tfrrs.com roster lists Will Williams also. Plus Blake Chiuminetta (Dripping Springs '14) who spent last year at the University of Oregon, but did not compete for them. I believe he is a long sprinter.

Yep...The second one is the one I just heard of. Looks like he run on the club team (1:53 800m).

Looks like Tech performed well in the jumps last week at Arkansas. Figure Culver will probably place first in the high jump; he has the fourth highest jump this season according to TFRRS.

Wil Williams is listed to compete this weekend in the long jump. Looking forward to see how well he performs.

In the interview following last week invitational Coach Henry indicated that he was not happy losing the mile relay. He said we hadn't lost a mile relay at home in a while. He also said that two guys who could have been on the relay team are hurt. I am just wonderful if the hurt guys are Richard Rose and Eric Age. Does anyone knows if indeed they are hurt and how long they will be out for?

He also mentioned that the triple jumpers (twins) did well while jumping 15 plus meters from a short run up. I was really wondering why they only jump 15 plus when they are 17 plus and 16 plus jumpers. Looking forward to seeing the twins doing well this year.

No need to waste long jumps this early in the season. Get your mechanics down and stay healthy.

Men lost the 4x4 again. Middle 2 legs weren't great. I thought our 3rd leg took a bad angle when he tried to pass.

My little brother had a PR today in the weight throw and took 3rd place. Proud of him. Think he's the only Aggie that competes in that event.

There were three faster 4x400 times from the Conference Clash in Alabama. Need to find video of that race

Will Williams currently is at #3 on the qualifier list. Good meet from the men's long jump, high jump, and pole vault

EDIT: Looks like I misread the results, there were two faster times at the Conf Clash and two faster times at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet. For some reason I thought Baylor was at the Conf Clash.

We had a recent commitment from Jaevin Reed (Plano Tx) in women sprints

Her best times are
100m 12.21
200m 23.93
200m ind. 24.49
400m 54.72

Do those times make her more of a 200m or 400m runner than a 60m or 100m?

Yes she is more of a 200m/400m runner. Most of her races in 2015 were 200m and 400m.
She is presently rank US# 5 in the 2016 indoor 400m.rankings

Not really sure where to ask this so I guess I'll ask here.
If I were to walk on to the aggie XC team, what should my 5k time be? Currently I run a 18:00 5k (average) and I'm wondering what my time should be before I can seriously consider walking on. I'm currently a junior so I have time to improve

Walkon for just XC or track as well? I'm guessing the standards for XC they'll look for 16:30-17:00 and 3200M track time of 9:30-10:00, but your performance at state, regional, FL and NXN mean more for XC.

Ed: there are a cpl people that know A&M standards better than me.
StartSpeedy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Both, however I haven't done long distance track until this year so I don't have a time to post.
And are 16:30-17:00 for walk ons? Or would 17:20 or so be about walk on range. I'm not necessarily needing to go to meets or be a top 5 runner, but I'm interested in being a member of the team
