Do I detect some type of animus towards Penske???
Yeah, well, sometimes nothing is a real cool hand

Penske clearly benefitted and it was clearly a bad screw up by race control, (Kyle Novak). This is strike two, for me. First was messing up the length of that late yellow at Indy.

(It's doing the thing with replacing the cell phone emoji with the cry emoji again)

That picture of a Chevy (Power) in Detroit, in front of a Corvette sign, with a waving yellow flag and a dead car is very symbolic

A bit of speculation here along with some noise I've heard:

Rossi is the hottest commodity on the grid and his contract is up at the end of the year. We know Penske is waffling about Castroneves next year at Indy, and he said this weekend four cars at Indy. It's been rumored that Rossi was going to replace Pagenaud, but what about Penske maybe going back to four full-time cars again? Ganassi probably showed his hand too in not confirming or denying that he was talking to Rossi.

Sounds like Rossi is going to have a choice between an extension and raise at Andretti, to take the #10 car at Ganassi, or a fourth car at Penske. He's fixing to get PAID.

I bought tix to Texas this year and also splurged on pit passes. Has anyone on here ever had passes?

Curious about recommendations. I am definitely thinking of going on Friday so I can be in the pits for practice and qualifying!

We had the pit passes at COTA, and they were great. Really cool to get closer access to the garages, and to see the drivers in person.

Chilton wusses out of the rest of the ovals in 2019; Daly to drive the #59 at Texas this weekend
Quote:

Conor Daly will join Carlin this weekend for the ninth round of NTT IndyCar Series action at the DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway. After recording a top-10 finish at the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, Daly will bring his INDYCAR oval experience to pilot the No. 59 Gallagher Carlin Chevrolet in place of current driver Max Chilton.

Daly, who raced with Carlin in the early stages of his car racing career in Europe, is ideally placed to compete on the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway oval following his strong month of May and past oval experience in the NTT IndyCar Series. The 27-year-old Indianapolis-based driver last raced for Carlin in 2011 in the former GP3 Series.

Speaking about the upcoming weekend Daly said, "I want to thank everyone at Carlin and Gallagher for the opportunity to get back in a race car at Texas. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Carlin back in 2011 as I started my European racing journey and to now drive for them in the NTT IndyCar Series is pretty special. I look forward to being able to contribute to the team as best I can."

Edit: I've heard rumblings that Daly might get another opportunity in the #25 at Pocono, or was set to, anyway.

Kind of a sparse crowd. It's a large metro area, I don't know why they don't draw better.

rough life as a pit crew guy in Indy. Second race in a row that a car took out his own crew guy

It's a one groove track. You just can't go around the outside.
Nice drive Josef and Cindric just keeps making the right calls.

I think you're on the mark. The reconfiguration and the new car have made this a one, maybe one and a half, groove track.

On the crowd, I do have to say it keeps looking a little bit better each year since the low point in 2014, except that rainout a couple years ago.

In something even Capt. Obvious could see, Alonso and McLaren are parting ways. (Edit: This is apparently fake news from gpfans. Alonso has denied it).

Pierre Gasly at Red Bull must be sweating.

Come to IndyCar! Way cooler cars, unique tracks (although I would love a few more superspeedways), danger, and driver skill and personalities.

I've tried to get into NASCAR and I think my biggest turnoff are the cars. They're ugly. It's like racing cardboard boxes around an oval. I would rather see jet fighters (IndyCars) instead.

I agree IndyCars look cool but NASCAR is stock car racing. The cars today on the street look like boxes so that's what the cars on the track are going to resemble.

I love both racing series' but prefer NASCAR because the racing is better in my opinion. I too wish IndyCar would go back to more ovals instead of street courses, but it's not going to happen with the heavy presence of foreign drivers from karting backgrounds and more focus on safety. But it gets boring watching no passing and Simon Pagenaud lead from start to finish.

Hopefully Iowa entertains this Saturday, but even Texas has become boring in recent years. This year it seemed like they drove single file for the first 80% before finally starting to race. Except for Herta, he was entertaining.
