I am reading the play by play while we are driving and this game looks like it is off the rails.

No surprises here. The NHL roster was pretty much set this offseason. Only question really was if an injury kept Bourque or Stanoven up to start.

Just heard on Podman Rush, a great Stars podcast hosted by Razor and Mike Heika, the Stars have the 4th best points percentage in the league since arriving in Dallas 30 years ago (.636).

Razor also said they have been told by the league that there will be an emphasis on slashing penalties (which are now supposed to be called "infractions" apparently) this season.

Also said "linesman" is now "linesperson" lol. Yes, he was serious.

Is anyone going to six flats tonight to meet and greet the players?

I have a half season plan so I guess I'm not included in all Victory Club events. Weird that they sent me an update about it in my email.

Taking my oldest. First time they've done this since Covid. They just notified everyone that Hintz, Faksa and Johnston won't be there. I would normally just consider that a bummer, but those 3 guys were hurt during the preseason. Makes me nervous about their availability Thursday.

It's a neat event, but you basically have to decide if you want to ride or get autos because the autograph lines get insane. The ride lines are virtually nonexistent, but not everything is open either. My oldest is a bit older now, so I imagine we'll just be looking for autos tonight.

NHL is back tonight, but no stars.

Roope Hintz didn't take regular line rushes in practice today. Working with skills coach Stan Tugolukov after practice right now.

I would bet, since there are only 2 games over the next week that they hold Hintz out tomorrow night and possibly against Vegas next Tuesday. No reason to rush it.

That Duchene signing makes it a little easier to absorb. Move Seguin to 1st line C, put Dechene center of the 2nd, and bump up Dellandrea from 4th line.

The smart thing to do is hold him out tomorrow, because the next game isn't until Tuesday. Don't rush him back.

This is why you went out and bolstered the depth with the Steele and Smith signings.

We should be one of the best teams in the NHL on paper. I still don't love the blueline, but I don't think it will be as bad as last year at times.

A lot of analytics guys are projecting Dallas as one of the safest bets for the playoffs and the favorite to make it to the Final out of the west. A couple I've seen even have them winning it all. It makes me nervous having these kind of expectations going into the season. It's been so long, I've forgotten what it feels like.

It sounds like the pairings will be a defense-offense balance of:

Suter-Heiskanen
Lindell-Lundkvist
Hakanpaa-Harley

They also expect Miro to get even better this season. Apparently Miro worked all offseason on his shot.

Harley just started coming on at the end of last year so a full season with him will be fun and he should be better.

We need to keep Miro fresh and get his average ice time down to the 23-24 range instead of up over 25 (he had the 6th highest time on ice in the league last year).

Seeing that Hintz has officially been ruled out for tonight.

He was at morning skate, but not part of the team drills. Smart move to hold him out and let him get fully healthy.

No, I believe they released him after camp.

Visiting Devils fans checking in for the 2023-24 season to wish y'all good luck. I fully expect y'all to be one of the main contenders to emerge from the Western Conference this season.

Already got my tickets for the March 14 Devils-Stars game at AAC for what I'm hoping is a preview of the Stanley Cup Finals.
