Going back and watching the goals against from last night; what are we doing on the penalty kill? We have guys who are solely on this team because of their ability to kill penalties, but what ability is that? To be slow and watch the puck out of position? Hakanpaa is just a space eater at this point, but what good is he when he can't even take up space properly?

I kind of wish the games were actually in January or February. November is cold and rainy for much of Finland.

Hopefully considering a new manager. Deboer is good, but not good enough, and I think his track record proves it.

There's just times when I wish we would play a more consistent/conservative style of hockey. One of the consistent issues I feel like we have had since DeBoer has been here is frequent breakaway chances or guys out of position on D, which leads to big open lanes or guys being able to get closer to the net. Pick and choose the times to have your d men pinch hard or even activate to be a chaser on dump in. GET RID OF HAKANPAA. And be more consistent in your own zone. We aren't a fast team, so be a stickler on being in the right spot.

Yes, I agree with your analysis. We went from defense first, low scoring style with Bones to more open offensive style with suspect defense. The team is definitely more enduring to watch now but the multiple breakaways given up each game is frustrating and can be a back breaker. Otter hasn't been able to cover up the teams mistakes as well this season. Hopefully we can find a happy medium.

It would potentially be more tolerable if the defensemen were actively contributing to goal scoring, but outside of a few points on the power play the defensive scoring has dried up the last 10 games or so as well

Agree here. The defense really isn't doing anything right now. They are poor on the PK, I think they are poor on the PP, and we still really struggle to get the puck out of the zone at times. I think DeBoer needs to shake some stuff up, whether that be in the d core or the forward group. I'll call till the cows come home that Bourque needs to be with the big club, and I would like to see changes made to the d pairings. I would split Harley and Heiskanen and have Tanev play with one of them. Them I would start with Harley/Heiskanen and Esa, but also insert Nils and have him shift in with Esa as well as play with Suter. Keep limiting Suter's minutes. At the very least at least Nils can skate and make up for any mistakes that he causes.

Otter is so confusing. He was one of the best goal tenders in the NHL under Bones, who is a structure Nazi and keep everything in front of you type of risk averse coach. Then he's one of the worst under DeBoer, who plays super aggressive and more wide open than Bones could ever think of. There's got to be a happy medium for not only the team, but for him.
