I hear the team is swimming well and the new coach has been impressive. Surprised we aren't seeing more action on this thread.

I've noticed they've been doing well but I'm completely oblivious of the sport and the inner workings of college swimming! I know a lot of people came on here and expressed their displeasure with the new coach hire but I was excited for something new!!! I hope it turns out well!

Is there any info available on 2025 summer swim camp ?

can tell you one of the top jrs out of SA is looking at the Aggies on the men side, but everyone wants to go out of state or to that hell hole up 35

Genuine question here...are those results good or bad for us? I have tried to follow the new with the new structure and coaching staff but it's hard to know results of anything. Appreciate any context!

Interesting that our recent men's associate head coach now at South Carolina is beating our women's team

I'm not knowledgeable on college swimming, but the last two years our men have gotten 4th in conference and 5th in 2022. Our women got 3rd last year but 9th and 6th the years before.

Now you add tu to the mix, so we move a spot down. So we'll see how we finish off this years meet, but I'd say it's about expected for a coaches first year. There's still swimming the next 3 days! Hopefully she's doing great in the recruiting trail to add more talent for next season!

It's the last day of the SEC Championships and the SEC Network is showing a replay of a radio show.

According to Swimswam the Florida men have won this thing 12 years running (and the women the last two). That's pretty impressive.

That finish in the SEC is pretty good nationwide.

There are well over 100 Div. 1 men's programs and 200 women's according to a quick search.

A&M is ranked 17th (men's) and 21st (women's) nationally. Not a bad spot to be building from.

Agree with this, she did a good job of keeping alot of talent from transferring too. Curious who she can bring in to build on this

Shannon left as director and one of the new assistants is taking over

Through 2nd day of prelims at NCAA (women) we've had 11 individual swims and none have dropped time. Not a great start. Chloe Stepanek did slip into the B-final of the 200 free finishing 15th in prelims. That's our only finalist through 7 individual swimming events.

We are essentially back to where we were in 2003 (a non-factor). It was a good run while it lasted.

So frustrating. We even have programs if we don't try and win - look at Texas...

Well, our recruiting had tailed off before Bultman left, but I don't see Anderson making a big difference in recruiting. Has she made any effort for dual nationals or foreigners?

I assumed she was hired for being the Virginia recruiting coordinator. The '25 class is fairly underwhelming. '26 looking better, but not elite. Hard to get the elite swimmers unless you have a track record of success. Best case is a slow build back but she's going to need to show some results in the pool. This week won't help.

Welp, we wrap up the meet with 17 individual swims and 0 dropped time. Is this the worst big meet taper in history? 1 last place in a B final. That's it for individual swimmers.

We do have an A finalist in platform diving, a 14th in 200 MR, and a 15th in 400 MR.

Woof.

Diver struggles to last place in the A final. Team finishes in 26th place with 22 points.

Another failed experiment. Time to move on from her.

Where are those that touted her experience, even though it did not include head coach experience. We made a DEI change to finish worse than last year.

She was going to be considered as a USA swim coach last Olympics, but recruiting here is much different than UVA. We need a major talent infusion via recruiting and the portal.

How so? They have very little swim history before hiring Todd DeSorbo in 2017. 4 women's top 10's and 3 men's top 10's in the history of the program pre DeSorbo. The day he was hired A&M women had been top 10 for 11 straight years.

Oh, and Virginia was DeSorbo's first head coaching job. Got to get the right person. Still to be seen if we did, but year 1 results don't look promising so far.

I'm definitely not a fan of this coach but I'm not seeing any changes unless she can prove herself within the next 2-3 years

Men start off with a 13th in the 200 MR. They were seeded 19th, so a good start.

We aren't on the heat sheet for the 800 free relay. I looked the other day and thought we were qualified, but seeded last. I assume we scratched.
