Thanks, they are both set to graduate next month, spend time in Albuquerque this summer for Sam to train at altitude and we will see what happens after that...

My yearly tradition but man oh man, can we talk about how far the Texas Relays has fallen. Many more colleges who were once regulars refuse to attend. Some relay events had 1-3 schools, some had juco's or naia schools winning because there wasn't many power 4 teams running. The famous Jerry Thompson Mile had 3 people running and the winning time was a 4:20… Many of the invitational races that promised Olympians and All Americans had more "did not shows" than people running… even at the high school level, many schools were not showing up for races, the finals on Sunday was full of empty lanes. Many of the top high school athletes didn't even bother to show up as only a handful of power 4 schools did as well. Tu themselves weren't even running all the relays… I called it years ago that this meet was running itself into the ground and every year it continues to do so… glad A&M is no longer associated with it

I use to go to the Texas Relays every year in the 80's and 90's before the Dallas & Houston mob crowds took over. One reason I enjoyed going was to see my old HS school track coach there that later coached at Wharton Jr College and then Rice. The Texas Relays was also better when the track was still in Memorial Stadium. I

I remember years ago when rain caused the meet to be canceled for the day, and the Dallas & Houston crowds went over to Highland Mall, and caused havoc. I think that began the decline in the Texas Relays.

"During the late 2000s and early 2010s, large crowds associated with the annual Texas Relays caused significant security concerns, parking lot fights, and traffic congestion at Highland Mall in Austin. The incidents led to early closures of the mall and intense media coverage, especially during the 2009 and 2013 weekends".

sorry to post on here but figured this thread would be easiest to get some answers

What is the proper way to time the splits of a 4x4 relay. Baton exchange, when each runner crosses start finish. I hear different people say this that and the other. I know relay times really do not mean anything it is the outright time in a 400m, 100m etc that is important. I would just like to be on the same page of how the automated timing system takes the splits.

Its only 3 inches but from someone who ran the 110s in college...it is an adjustment. Some make it quicker than others.

They only have heat sheets up for tonight and tomorrow's races and only 2 Aggies are racing tonight in the 10000, Michael Moiben and Jack Johnston! No one in the 5000 Friday and they don't have anything up for the 1500, I was just gonna combine it with the Florida meet later tonight

Henry mentioned on his TexAgs interview this week that we have two potential contributors we need to get healthy. I'm guessing one is Sofia and the other may other be Solovev our elite pole vaulter who hasn't competed outdoors yet. We need both of them to make a run at a Natty. Also haven't seen Micah Larry in the outdoor season. Taylor Nunez is scheduled to run this weekend which is nice to see.

Nice interview by Kay with pole vaulter Jack Mann. Great to hear some of his story and how he chose A&M....had no idea he had broken his ankle while competing at one of the indoor meets this season. The silver lining with the injury is that he will be back competing for the Aggies next year since he is taking a redshirt this year. I do wish there was more information communicated to Aggie track & field fans at least about season ending injuries and also about who is transferring in and out. Example...Is Sofia Yakushina, our elite multi event athlete out for the year? Winnie Bii, Victor Kibeigo, Micah Larry, and Luca Santorum are all still listed on the roster. Are they injured or have they left A&M? It seems like this type of information is communicated out for most of our other Aggie sports.
