Attended the Lone Star Conference meet at West Texas A&M this past weekend. Particularly with WT A&M and Angelo State but not limited to those two, was shocking the amount of Europeans and Africans in their mid 20's (WT has a hep who won 2 individual events as well who is 29 and 18 of 37 on the women's team are not from the US). From the athlete's perspective, I get it, US education and pathway to a work visa upon graduation much easier. Just seems odd for DII programs to be scouring the earth for track and field talent. On another note, stands were completely packed all three days and the throws did not compete with running events, so huge crowds for those which never happens. Thought that was very cool for the athletes especially given the remoteness of Canyon, TX.
