Really like this change. Keeps TV partners happy for an end of season event but it's basically all about points and results in both the season and the chase.

Smoke in a Kaulig Dodge Ram for the Daytona Truck race

Thinking of taking wife and son to Daytona. Any suggestions since we never have been there?

We stayed on the beach when we went a few summers ago. I want to say Daytona Grande or something similar. Rates weren't bad. Expect to spend all day at the track. Traffic is a nightmare before and after. Uber/Lyft was also a nightmare. We ended up walking a pretty good distance just to find a parking lot an uber could get us in and get back over the bridge to the beach.

It was a fantastic time.

I don't know what their schedule is but I would try to do the motorposrrts hall of fame (on-site)

Hopefully everything gets sorted out before Saturday and no more snow falls.

Bowman-Gray at noon: track and pits are plowed and drying. Main St. has just one lane scraped each way. Other roads and side streets are packed snow. Most lots have snow piled high, limiting parking.
If coming, dress for extreme cold. Plan to park remotely and shuttle to track.

Forecast says 6-10 inches of snow possible Saturday but also somewhat uncertain. Tech will be tomorrow. Teams been told plan is race Sunday and if postponed, then Monday, then Tuesday, etc. Issue will likely be more about people safely attending. NASCAR says can race in cold. https://t.co/N6MnnAKZpU

Progress made today at the stadium. Main St is now cleared, but most side roads are still unplowed packed snow. Temp hit 40 today, that and the sun helped.
The FOX trucks are in place, and TV setup continues.
Looks like we are racing at BGS this weekend, IF there's no more snow.

Clash postponed to Monday because of snow at Bowman Gray Stadium. New schedule has practice and qualifying at 11a ET on FS2, LCQ at 4:30p ET on FOX, race at 6p ET on FOX. @NASCARONFOX

Postponed again. According to the Clash website ... The Clash will now be WEDNESDAY. Practice and qualifying at 1:30p ET. The LCQ at 4:30p ET on FOX and main event at 6p ET on FOX.

Childress has to be pouring everything into his car this year for his team's legitimacy. Kyle will look to move on after this year if he doesn't feel the love (where I dunno), but I've also heard Austin might be given the boot with Ty coming up. Lots of politics and drama in the RCR garage/future. I'd still bet if Busch cant be given top dollar investing in his car and team this year he'll either retire or leave on his own.

Two cool things I've seen tonight from the wrecks.

Wing flaps on the A pillars and a hydraulic lift kit to raise a car up that is bottomed out in the grass.

So does the hydraulic lift drop back to normal as soon as the car starts moving at higher speeds?

They didn't show all the motion. All they showed was the car lift up like a low rider. Once it had clearance with the grass it started moving. They cut away after that.

Alfredo fails post race inspection and is DQ'd. Will not run in the 500. Devastating. Hose was loose. Sounds like it could have easily come loose naturally during the race so no idea if it was intentional or not. Brutal.

Oh wow. That's a brutal hit to a race or go home team. He was really emotional about making it last night.

ETA they are saying his transaxle cooling hose was not properly attached. Wow.

Yeah the issue definitely warrants a DQ. I would have to think it was attached during pre-race inspection so either it was manipulated or it came loose/wasn't secure enough. I wouldn't think a crew chief would ever think they could pass post-race with a completely detached hose, so can't imagine they just pulled it off. But who knows if they were playing too close to the line and whatever they did failed.
