I did, the Stanley Cup didn't even exist before 1926-27. It was bought by Lord Stanley and donated as the championship trophy in that year.

LOL!

The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America.[2] Originally inscribed the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, the trophy was donated by Lord Stanley of Preston in 1892 as an award for Canada's top-ranking amateur hockey club, decided by the acceptances of a challenge from another league championship team

Lord Stanley died in 1908

Then in 1915, a gentlemen's agreement between two professional hockey organizations, the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA), was reached in which their respective champions would face each other for the Stanley Cup

Lets say in the 60's or the 70's and most of the 80's?

Well, not too well those years. The 60s marked the end of their glorious runs over the past few decades.

How did your bandwagon teams do then? How did the Leafs do in the 70's and 80's, hell up to today? It's not fair to try and lump your original bandwagon team in there, b/c they didn't even exist. Even the Habs had down years, like the last 15. And like the Leafs for the past 40. It still grinds you up that in the modern era of hockey, no team has been as dominating as the Red Wings. You should be well past the denial stage at this point, and well on your way to acceptance.

Keep trying. If you adjust your timeframe enough, you may have Stars being the best team!!!

From http://www.nhl.com/cup/champs.html

The NHL assumed control of Stanley Cup competition after 1926

That's right NHL.com states that the NHL assumed control of the Stanley Cup after 1926. So what were saying about interchanging NHL championship with Stanley Cup?

You're right on that one. I was mistaken, it floated around the Amatuer leagues for a while. Good job. You actually got something right on the first try.

Does it change anything? Nope. You've spent a long time trying to prove that I had one number wrong. Now, get started on the rest of them. My original purpose is the one I've tried to get back to a number of times, but you keep hopping teams.

I am not a fan of Toronto, New Jersey or Dallas

I am a fan of Hockey and I know the history of Hockey.

I played Hockey growing up in a town about an hour outside of Detroit.

Again I know the History of the sport and do not like people that knee-jerk, bandwagon or recreate history for their cause.

But if you want to let me know how Lord Stanley donated the cup in 1927 from the Grave let me know

Well, I already conceded that I was mistaken there. Let me know how the NHL could award the Stanley Cup to their champion before 1926-27 when they didn't even control it.

So I guess in your opinion the Green Bay Packers have only won 1 Super Bowl and it was with Brett Farve?

And I've been a fan since I first saw the game. Not my fault it isn't around Texas. Detroit from day one.

And you still haven't come up with a good answer for how the red Wings have not been the dominant team over the past dozen years. (Still being nice and including NJ's short season cup year).

Actually, they won the Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II, also. In your opinion, who won the Super Bowl in 1955?

You realize what year the NFL and AFL merged right?

The Stanley Cup should just be stored in Detroit, it spends a lot of time there.

As my original Argument stated

New Jersey has won two cups in the past 6 years.

Detroit has only one three cups in the last 50 years.

Why should the cup be stored in Detroit?

Of course I do. Do you realize that the Green packers played in the Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II, and they didn't change the name of the championship retroactively to rename past champions of the NFL? Just because the NFL and AFL didn't merge for a few more years after the Super Bowl started, doesn't mean it wasn't the Super Bowl. But, they didn't go back and change the name of the previous NFL championships and call them Super Bowls also. What is the point you are trying to make? Also, do you have a good answer to my original point, or are you still dodging it?

The fact remains, everything I said about the Wings history is true, except I recalled one number incorrectly, and you got your panties in a wad over it. 11 vs 10. Wow you must really hate the Wings.

Well the Super Bowl was the Super Bowl before the NFL took over......hmmmmm

Well the Stanley Cup was the Stanley Cup before the NHL took over.......hmmmmm

NASCAR has the Nextel Cup. Did they go back and rename all the previous championships from Winston to Nextel? No, they didn't.

Actually, the Super Bowl was the Super Bowl when it was the AFL vs the NFL. How did the NHL have the Stanley Cup for it's champ before the NHL had control of the Stanley Cup? You already said yourself it was called the Challenge Cup before they got the Stanley Cup. They didn't retroactively change the name. Just like they didn't retroactively change the name of the NFL championship before they played a Super Bowl, or the Winston Cup when they got a new sponsor.

Your logic isn't making sense
ColoradoMooseHerd
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That makes no sense

From 1915-1926 they awarded the Stanley Cup, no name change needed

From 1893 - 1914 they awarded the Challenge Cup that was donated by Lord Stanley

Detroit is where it belongs. 3 in the past 9, 3rd (my bad, one number off) all time in Stanley Cup Championships, and 1st hasn't had it in 15 years, 2nd hasn't had it in 40.

And we all know the obvious answer. B/c the Red Wings are the best. Deal with it.

Who is better than them over this run? (Still being nice and including NJ's short season Cup).
ColoradoMooseHerd
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Toronto won 2 Challenge Cups and 13 Stanley Cups

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well lets have Edmonton have the cup since they have 5 Stanley Cups in the past 25 years

They are also the Defending Western Conference Champs, so recent history they trump Detroit

Also the Cup must be held in Canada, Hockey is Canada's game

ColoradoMooseHerd
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The only way your argement works is if you select a specific time period that is not too recent and not too past.

You are a Minnesota Twin fan that is arguing that they have then 2nd most titles since 1987

Either take the History of the Stanley Cup or don't.

Just don't be a whiney Red Wings Bandwagon fan that keeps gettin taught history
