I don't think he killed himself. No reason for him to disappear to do that. I think he realized they were going to find her body and had his parents help him flee. He's probably already in a country with no extradition.

How would this guy have been allowed unnoticed on an airplane? These people aren't exactly publicly traded money.

Maybe authorities found the location of the Dutton's train station?

The big breakthrough in the case appeared to come from a random family travel YouTube channel who was editing their B-roll from in the area and thought they spotted a familiar looking van. You can't tell in the video, but they said they noticed it had Florida plates when they passed it twice.

If you believe random internet sleuths, they've found the exact area where the van was parked on Google Earth. Then based on news helicopter footage that shows the area and the precise location where the forensics tent was set up, the tent was 900 ft away from where Random Family Youtubers just happened to catch the parked van with their dashcam.

No doubt the dashcam was the giant break in the case.

Crow for dinner: looks like I got this one really, really wrong at the outset. Good on y'all whose gut instincts are way better than mine.
Is EVERYONE a travel vlogger these days?

It doesn't work like that. The question should be: What evidence is there that proves that he's guilty?

Social media and technology has organically created an "enemy of the state" level of surveillance even in extremely rural america.

Still has to be proven. I'm not saying he did or didn't, but the burden of proof is on the prosecution.

As discussed earlier, if there were no charges against him, he probably wasn't "officially" unable to travel. I doubt his attorney recommended it, but I'm guessing his parents helped him. Maybe he didn't hop a flight to the Ukraine, maybe he got some hair dye and was headed to Mexico (Scott Peterson style). My point was that I think it's much more likely he is on the run than it is that he killed himself out of guilt.

They don't usually kill themselves out of guilt. They don't want to spend 40 years getting their cheeks busted.

I didn't think he was completely bald. You can dye the hair that is there. Or I guess get a blonde wig. Sorry, I'm no expert at fleeing pending murder charges.

You realize the airlines keep records of the passengers who fly on their planes right?

If only the airlines didn't shred ticket records the second a plane lands. There must be some other way to figure out who boards every commercial plane that ever takes off and lands in the entire country, 24 hours a day 52 weeks per year.

Local cops said yesterday they had no reason to suspect a connection. I think they know who did that one.

Assuming he did it, and I do, it's strange to me that he left her body at the campsite.

There's a lot of forensic downside in loading a dead body in the car. If the death was caused by penetrating trauma you're running a risk of leaving blood trails that will be hard to explain. And if the decedent has been dead for a while, signs of decomposition in the van would be VERY inconvenient to explain.

In a remote wilderness area leaving the body to decompose (particularly given that he knew he was likely going to have a head start of a couple of weeks) was not the dumbest thing he could have done. One of the things that helped Casey Anthony in her trial, for example, is that by the time the remains were found there was really no way to prove forensically that her cockamamie story WASN'T true.

As guilty as this dude is making himself look in the court of public opinion, this has the potential to be a very circumstantial case from a legal perspective.

Why go back to Florida and just chill at home? If you're gonna act guilty, why not just make a run for it right away?
