When this is made into a movie or miniseries, the writers will just have to read this thread. All of the scenes of detectives profiling the suspect and asking questions to put the investigation together are already written for them. Just tie in some outcomes a few other details and boom, done.

And everyone in the thread will get $1.23 or so in royalties!

I think there needs to be a Creepy Minister character.

The question now will be whether they can determine cause of death, proving it was a murder.

If not, it opens a number of possible explanations he could use in trial, which would be hard to disprove.

Depends a lot on temperature, humidity and exposure to animals, as well as the cause of death. Given the confident identification and how (relatively) quickly the investigators left the scene, I presume that they found a reasonably intact (but likely decomposed) body.

IF that is correct, there is probably enough to identify a homicide due to shooting, stabbing, manual strangulation or blunt trauma. Where things get dodgy after a few weeks is deaths where toxicology comes into play, or when animals have dispersed the remains.

I keep going back to that video and can't see where the door is closing. I do see where the pixelated camera finds the van and then it looks like something black and the height of the door appears, but it ends up being the ladder. I wonder if the video is just the ladder on the back of the van door.
