How old are his daughters? 65?
My guess: She had a heart attack or something and died suddenly. He had dementia and couldn't care for himself and died a few days later.

I do think it's a little odd that none of his children reached out or contacted authorities after not hearing from him or his wife in 10+ days.
Unless they weren't close at all and this was a regular occurrence I suppose.
