JR Hayes, Jr was my great grandfathers name. He was (Hamilton) county commissioner around there in the 60's. Great grandma, Viola, was a Fuller. Both are buried at Pottsville

How about Long Mott?
On the way into Seadrift you pass by it. My GF's best friend owns the winery there (although I think they're in the process of shutting it down).
Both the GF and her best friend are Ags...as was her best friend's dad, who owned a lot of the land around there...

Are you sure he didnt own the whole dang town? Long Mott looks like a farmer built his support buildings on both sides of the HWY and then had it incorporated as a town......

Carlton.
In the early 80's into the 90's, they had a gas station, post office, art gallery, grocery store, and a couple of churches.
The gas station fell down at some point. The art gallery is no longer there. I think the grocery store and post office are still there but I haven't visited in many years.

Yep, my grandma graduated from Pottsville but her younger sister graduated from Hamilton after the Pottsville school closed.
Carlton is sad to drive through these days. It has not aged well. Pottsville has been mostly kept up, except the old Remar building.

Had a hunting lease there in the 80's. Over 5K acres that was in 3 counties. Parker, Wise, and Jack. All for only $250/yr! We cleaned out an old homestead on the property and ran electricity to it. Had a cast iron stove that heated that place up like August.
Seems it has grown. Back then, all that was there was a Post office and a run down general store. We would hit the DQ in Springtown on the way in.
Good times...

The "rich" good girls from Haslet would go to springtown to have wild weekends. Learned all of this after I signed a lease in springtown. My first job out of A&M was in springtown of all places. I knew the Haslet girls from spending too much time around Stephenville/tarleton while I was attending A&M
