I am with Liberty Mutual for Home/Auto for 6 years and the prices are too high. I am looking to switch. I got quotes from Progressive and Allstate and even Geico. Allstate seems good but Progressive Auto is very cheap for the same coverage. Home insurance is through "Homesite". Does anyone have experience with Progressive/Homesite? They make you install an app on your phone to track your driving which seems annoying.

I have Progressive car insurance. I don't have an app though.

They're much cheaper than Farmer's (who I'd used for decades), and they took good care of me when I totaled my car hitting a deer a couple of years back.

I have it but never had to use it. You never know about insurance until you need it. No driving app.

Progressives.

Real answer: call a few body shops and ask them which insurance will take care of their insured customers when it is time for a claim.

Progressive Auto is quoting me $42 for 2 cars and 2 drivers. Seems very low. Others are near $110. It seems unreal and I checked it again.

What about Home, are you with Progressive/Homesite?

I have progressive. Its fine. Not aware that they're tracking my driving, but I have the app for digital ID and claims. I have filed one claim, it was relatively smooth process.

As someone who isn't all that insurance savvy, I learned they provide quotes from competitors to try to get higher risk drivers to self select out of using their product. Seems pretty smart to me.

I switched over to them from USAA who was 2x the price for the same coverage. Even the USAA employee told me to switch.

Here's some info on their app. You can opt out but I am sure you pay a higher premium. It monitors your driving and increases or decreases premium based on how you do.

https://www.progressive.com/auto/discounts/snapshot/

Quote:

Snapshot rewards you for good driving
Progressive's Snapshot program personalizes your car insurance rate based on your actual driving. It's technically called usage-based insurance. That means you pay based on how and how much you drive instead of just traditional factors. In most states, you get an automatic discountRead the associated disclosure for this Snapshot claim. just for participating and a personalized rate at renewal depending on your results. While your rate could increase with high-risk driving, most drivers save with Snapshot. In fact, drivers who save with Snapshot save an average of $322 a year.*

Do you mean that there is a chance that some insurance companies are not accepted by body shops?
King of the Dairy Queen

If you file a claim there will be body shops your insurer will want you to go to. If you choose not to you may be going out of pocket for a portion and they might have more hoops for you to jump through. If you trust the body shop, they will know whose preferred list they're on and which insurers are a pain to deal with.

Stay away from Allstate. They don't take care of their customers at all. They fought tooth and nail not to pay us for when my son was hit by someone running a red light. Car was totaled and he was injured. Her insurance (Progressive) paid out the max policy limit immediately. Our insurance (Allstate) did not want to pay out even though we had coverage for underinsured drivers. We fought Allstate for 2 years before they paid out. We now use Progressive and the costs of premiums and customer service are much better than Allstate.

Prog gives me a good Auto rate.

What about Home? Are you with Prog for Home too?

I'm paying Progressive $134 per month for car insurance, one driver (me), but I have pretty complete coverage (collision/comprehensive/etc). I don't know what a minimal policy would cost me.

I don't own a home.

If you're in Texas, give Ag Workers - Insureberry out of Ft. Worth a call. 1-800-772-7424.

I have never found anyone to beat their price on vehicle insurance since 1987. I don't currently have home insurance through them, but would think they have the same record with that.

I have had many deer encounter claims and a couple of car/car interactions (young daughters) with them through the years and never an increase due to claims.

Their prices have increased the past three years, but I believe they are still the best deal around.

You don't have to be employed in Ag to be eligible for their insurance.

Let me know if you go with them, I think they give me $10 credit or something for recommendations.

I thought people shopped all insurances every couple of years regardless. I've had almost every big name insurance that exists.

I will be ditching Liberty Mutual.

Thanks all.

One of the professors in my major vouched for Ag Workers and since I was getting booted off my parent's insurance, I decided to try them as they quoted me 50% of the current price for Farm Bureau that I was paying at the time.

I've never talked with anyone (company or person) that said they could beat the deal I had. Even back when they were bombing me with sales calls. They claimed they could save me 15% guaranteed. I told them they couldn't. They asked who I had insurance with and when I replied Ag Workers, they would hang up and never call again. Even when raising four girls through the years - they were always the cheapest. Two of the daughters had collision claims as under 21 drivers - no increase in price.

Claims used to be easier as they did not have/hire adjusters. You just went and got three estimates from body shops and sent them in. Then they sent you a check.

There's plenty of cheaper insurers. Consult an 'Independent' insurance agent, meaning they can write policies to many different companies.

Progressive may be cheaper, but remember that Progressive is one of the biggest donors toward left wing political causes and politicians. I would never get insurance from them. They actively work against what's in the best interests of the US taxpayers and the economy. An Independent agent can get you just as good of a deal with someone else.

USAA for us. Their auto actually paid a dividend this year. Have them for homeowners, auto and life. I have TWIA for windstorm, I've shopped, but it's all about the same for me.

I have 2 full coverage and 1 liability only vehicle. All 3 have uninsured motorist coverage. Roughly 325 per month.

With allstate I was 825 per month and had no uninsured motorist coverage, otherwise it was the same.

I do have snapshot installed on all 3 vehicles.

If you go with Progressive, per a conversation with an agent a couple of weeks ago about my experience on a claim, don't go direct. Get an agent. I have direct, and they denied a comprehensive claim. The agent I spoke to said she had never had a claim denied in 20 years. We went into a deep dive about mine, and she said there's no way it should have been denied.
