They all suck ass. If you can get a cheaper rate with one vs. the other, do it, and be ready to switch again in 2-3 years when they start creeping the premiums up.

welp, we had to use our insurance, so now they are dropping us because we used the product we have been purchasing for 12 years and yes there were multiple claims and i get it but I still get to be mad. So I'm officially cranky,

Progressive auto is good for the first 6 months. Then they will jack the prices up sky high.

Look at state farm. We switched from USAA to them when USAA's customer service took a nose dive. Prices are less for a comparable product. They are also easy to deal with in a claim (just dealt with it- hit a hog going about 70).
Edit- just dont use them for homeowners

I thought people shopped all insurances every couple of years regardless. I've had almost every big name insurance that exists.

Nope. USAA for over 40 years

I've had USAA since I've had my own insurance, just like my father before me.

My dad was one of their longest members when he died at over 60 years.

I am with Liberty Mutual for Home/Auto for 6 years and the prices are too high. I am looking to switch. I got quotes from Progressive and Allstate and even Geico. Allstate seems good but Progressive Auto is very cheap for the same coverage. Home insurance is through "Homesite". Does anyone have experience with Progressive/Homesite? They make you install an app on your phone to track your driving which seems annoying.

Why would anyone do all this work yourself?
Get a broker to do the work for you, and more efficiently than you can.

I will say, their customer service had definitely taken a nosedive. We'd had a couple of frustrating incidents with them in the last we years, so besides the cost issue, I'm only really frustrated to switch because I don't like change and I'd used them since I'd bought insurance and its easy to have it in the same app as my banking etc.
the making us fill out two separate claims when the mechanics didn't re-install the guard correctly should have been the nail in the coffin for them tbh. because now there is an additional "object on road" on his history which is the last thing needed.

Their homeowners is ***** My husband is a roofer and deals with them all the time. Most of the claims end up with lawyers because they deny prettyuch every claim, or try to nickel and dime what they pay out for.
We have had really good experience with auto though. Its weird.

That's shocking. Theyre consistently the highest rated in customer satisfaction. Ugh.

If you go with Progressive, per a conversation with an agent a couple of weeks ago about my experience on a claim, don't go direct. Get an agent. I have direct, and they denied a comprehensive claim. The agent I spoke to said she had never had a claim denied in 20 years. We went into a deep dive about mine, and she said there's no way it should have been denied.

I have had Amica for years and they have been very good to me. Great with a roof replacement and a car totaled (not at fault). They don't waste a bunch of money of stupid advertising. Also, no local agent, you get assigned someone. Website works well.

The "I've been with xyz company for 85 years" is a weird flex. They are all good at handling claims. They also all jack the rates up on suckers who stay for more than 3-4 years.
