I spent $1000 on 47 rear projection "hd ready" (so only 720p, 1080i) back in 2003 and spent $1000 again in 2010 for a 55 lcd that was actually 1080p.

I can remember seeing "The Matrix" with Tanya at the theater and saying "We're stopping by Circuit City on the way home and buying an HD set. I don't care what it costs." It cost over $4000 in 1999 money for a 34" HD set that was a CRT and weighed about 200 lbs. I had to pass.

My price for a TV is $300. I've bought three in my life. I think the first was 13" and the latest was something like 35". But I will also stream on a $1000 smartphone, so that messes with the algorithm. I don't watch a lot of TV.

I think the one I am watching now is my most expensive at around a grand. Don't see me spending that much again. It is a fine tv i just can't see well enough for anything super duper resolution to matter.

We have a 75" and 55" Frames. They are amazing. The $50 annual Art subscription is the best thing for art lovers. Ours are wrapped in picture frames and they look like real paintings when not being watched.
