I still don't know WTF you are talking about with this statement. There wasn't a SINGLE person shot in the entire movie. It was like watching a GI Joe cartoon. A million bullets and everyone lives. The director-land mine was hardly gore. The head was so realistic after all.

So, with respect to your other arguments on here, it's hard to take you seriously when you post something as head shaking as this statement. I don't give a shat if everyone else hated it, I thought it was funny, It most certainly was NOT gory though.

while i didn't find it all that gory, my wife was a little put off by the repeated licking of the director's severed neck. i guess even if it's not realistic, the suggestion of eating the inside's of a severed head may gross some people out.

even still, outside of that part there was nothing else even remotely gory.

I LOVE a good satire. I love movies of this general genre. THIS movie; however, sucked.

And I have said this about many movies in the past, but great actors do not make a great movie. You judge a movie on its merits, not on which actor(s) you are worshipping at a particular moment in time.

The humor was not original. The black Downey was funny for about 3 minutes. Then it was obnoxious and overdone for the remaining 90+ minutes. Funny idea... but for about 90 seconds, not 90 minutes.

It was awesome and if you don't realize the intent you should just stop watching movies altogether.

movies have been in a spiral to the comic gutter since Animal House. Let's see how stupid we can get--throw in a lot of fart jokes and jokes about taking a dump, etc.

I have no problem with that but we all need to recognize this trend for what it is. The comedies that are drawing the crowds are the real dumb downed ones.

That said, I enjoyed the movie; I laughed at a lot of it and grinned through the rest.

As for bad taste, what did you guys think of the scene at the very start where Downey and Stiller are discussing the scene and the guy lying below Stiller takes a round in the helmet and the two foot long geyser of blood flows for a minute or two?

I lost several very good friends in Nam and that scene bothered me a lot. Jokes about movies where American GIs get shot in the head and spew out a stream of blood for a minute or two unabated are in bad taste and are stupid.

But just because they are in bad taste and stupid does not mean that overall they can't be very funny.

My biggest problem is that this is the only kind of comedy getting made anymore. Stupid and shallow.

And the men in these movies are always retards to one extent or another. Sometimes the women aren't.

Everyone is going to be offended by something at some point. The point of this movie was to offend just about everyone...I guess they succeeded.

It was clear that at this point it was shown as actors acting as if they had been shot. It was meant to show the stupidity of the war films currently out.

I honestly think that this was a much to intelligent comedy for some of you. It is similar to Idiocracy in that it uses satire to get the point across. Unfortunately most of yall are satire dumb.

Anyone who can't see that this movie is absolute greatness should off themselves immediately, preferably in the quickest way possible.

Great movie - those that didnt like it try and drink some "Booty Sweat" and eat a bar of "Bust-a-nut" before watching another time. It should make the movie more rewarding.

Thought this movie sucked. I can appreciate offensive humor and satire with the best of 'em. I just didn't think it was that sharp or creative. It had a few moments, but not much.

all I will say is I am sure glad I am the type of person that LOVED this movie for everything that it wasn't...and everything that it was.

On an unrelated note, for the most part the scenes that get the most laughs out of the audience are the lowbrow gags, that's just funny to a lot of people. I just wish some people would stop with the elitist *****baggery.

I thought the movie was hilarious. The fake trailers at the beginning were such great send-ups of so many differnt self-important Hollywood genres. Especially RDJ's movies and his pretentious interviews discussing his method-acting.

They weren't making fun of actual GI's getting shot...they were making fun of the (bad) Hollywood effects in bad over-the-top war movies.

Well said. That scene where RDJ's character seriously discusses the potential award pay-offs of "never going full retard" was hysterical..because you KNOW that real actors and their agents have had these discussions.

Stiller does great characters of self-important, deluded narcissists: first zoolaner now Tugg.

Surprisingly, this thread has made either option legitimate.

Finally saw this movie. Thought it was decent, not great, but had its moments.

I really wanted to post that I thought Tom Cruise absolutely stole every scene he was in! He was the funniest part of the movie for me, and I usually cannot stand him.

Also loved seeing that sip call himself pecker; that was hilarious!

All in all, I was glad to see it at the theater.

I gotta say, I pretty much love everything each of these guys has done.

However, I was pretty disappointed. I thought Downey was funny, but I just didn't find many laughs. I love dumb & irreverent humor, and I do not offend easily at all. I just didn't find it very funny.

just saw it for the first time. there were definitely some funny scenes, and I loved the meta commentary...I think as a whole film, it just didn't hold it together as well as I'd hoped. that said, the satire definitely worked and I loved the sendup they did of hollywood. a lot of the critiques were spot on.

this thread almost kept me from reading it. glad i still watched it. i laughed my butt off.

the part where zoolander comes running back with the kid on his back killed me.

I thought the movie was pretty funny... I enjoy satire for the most part.

One complaint I had (and many will call me old-fashioned for this) was that it had so much cussing. I'm used to hearing a bit here or there and expected some from a war-type movie, but I just thought it was over-the-top.

I was not prepared for this movie to be funny...but it was a scream from start to finish.

Outside of an over abundance of vulgarness I really enjoyed this movie as well, and practically fell over laughing at the trailer for "Satans Alley" with the "MTV Movie award winner for best kiss"
