I'm embarrassed to admit I used to like this band. In high school I thought "Significant Other" was the coolest album ever and I made sure everyone heard it when I was driving. I mean seriously, it said, "You can take that cookie and stick in your YEAH!" Does it get more rebel and cool than that?

What ever happened to Fred Durst? Remember all the "cool guys" wearing backwards red MLB caps so they could be like him?

They ****ing play them all the time on 94.5 The Buzz in Houston. That station is such an embarrassment.

And yeah I thought they were awesome, along with Kid Rock and Creed. When you're a kid you're a ****ing idiot.

3 Dollar Bill Y'all was great becuase it was so raw and energetic. Counterfeit may be the best of the nu-metal rap-rock era tracks. Its easy to hate the band b/c Durst turned out to be a talentless arrogant tool.

3 Dollar Bill, Y'all is still a great album. It's certainly their best and was a great album for the time.

The rest.....not so much.

Nearly everyone that spent time in high school in the late 90s liked Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, POD, and Korn. Including your's truly.

i remember going to Family Values in '99 thinking that was the greatest concert ever

i recall driving around in high school 99/00ish with the windows down blaring it like it was th sh*t, along with Korn 'Follow the Leader'

that being said, i still listen to $3 bill from time to time

This one was my favorite. Always sounded great on my sound system.

quote:
i thought i knew ya
took the time to prove my lovin' to ya
screw ya
cause now you got me livin in the sewer
im through with all your roller coaster rides
See i ain't forgot about the knots that you been tieing with my insides
I dropped my pride
Without you I was sure to die
I tried with cash
And all I could, to make it last
Now I accepted that was in the past
I know you love me
Loved me like a piece of trash

But at first you were so sweet
Couldn't go without seein your face for an hour
So sour
It all became a hassle
You were even living in my castle
Just to use me
And verbally abuse me
That's not the way I'm running my shop
It took a while to see the light before I stopped
And you got dropped off
It's over, probably I'll be sweating it
But in the long run you'll be the one regrettin' it
Maybe you won't, maybe you will
But baby, you're still about as real as a three dollar bill

im guilty of liking LB, papa roach, and Korn, but i was not a fan of POD

and follow the leader would be blasting on my stereo every day in the parking lot after school. by way of cd player with a cd to casette converter.

YES! I would come rolling in the high school parking lot, windows down, Bizkit loud....go over a spead bump and skip...skip....skip...silence....skip.....music back on. Kinda killed my "coolness" act.

you must have had a low skip protection.

mine was up around 15 SECONDS!!

posters under the age of 20 need not contribute. but then they would have no idea about $3 bill or papa roach, so they wouldnt comment anyway.

Dude... they had TWO versions! One when you wanted to rock, and one when you needed your DMX, Method and Redman fix.

Such visionaries...

Those guys actually had some decent talent, even if a lot of their music was kinda meh. I definitely know at least 4-5 of their songs.

Great thread...memories from hs are flooding back...dumped all my money into "hooking up" the sound system on my old 94 Ford Ranger just to pump this stuff. What a tool.

I really didn't mean that post necessarily as a dig on either band, they're just not in my wheelhouse, and only knowing of them as fairly successful bands with a number of hits that were popular with the angry kids, and weren't known for being particularly talented musicians, I had just always seen them as somewhat similar.

Still love me some Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Papa Roach.

Mostly like everything from '99 and before. Not so much from 00 on, except for some of the Papa Roach and a few LB tracks.

I remember splicing in 2 8" subs to my factory speakers on my 84 Blazer, and using the CD Cassette adapter.

Also, remember when Enimem came out too.

I certainly contributed to the rise and fall of Napster during this time frame, especially when I started at TAMU.

Nostalgia thread:

I never used napster, but I was a user of Kazaa, imesh, winMX, and IRC

I too am a pre '00 lover and post '00 hater
Lithium on SiriusXM ftw.

And just because I owned the above mentioned CDs, I want to make it clear that those are not my favorite bands at all.

90s weezer, toadies, oleander, better than Ezra, collective soul, the offspring, etc...

First of all, GUILTY (cd player to cassette converter)!!!

Wow, seems like such a long time ago.

Actually, Papa Roach's 'Infest' hit pretty hard. They sold out soon after though.

I never really like LB much. I couldn't get past Fred Durst.

I was more into the Smashing Pumpkins, Offspring, Bush, etc. stuff.
