Except Jesse took his suspicions to Saul and Saul verified everything Jesse was thinking. He now knows for a fact that Walt poisoned Brock because Saul said so.

As I said. It all ties together for Jesse now that he knows that Huell lifted the cig for Walt and Walt planted a cig in his Roomba to cover it up.

It's way too convenient that Brock would have accidentally eaten a berry that made him deathly ill. Something that obviously is not that common of a thing since the doctors were at a loss for awhile about it.

Walt being a man of science and chemicals obviously has the knowledge to utilize a substance that would resemble Ricin poisoning.

There is just too much coincidence all around it, and now with Jesse's modified understanding of the depths that Walt will go (seeing what he did to Mike and how he orchestrated killing all Mike's guys) it all came together for him.

True, Taint, but even Saul suggests that the poison was ricin, not LOV.

No he does not. Saul thinks Walt used the ricin. Jesse was told it was not ricin. So we are back to Jesse got played by Walt. You do not go burn someone's house down because they played you. You burn their house down because they did something very bad to you that you are wllling to die for in order to get revenge. Jesse is not Nino Brown.

We all agree this show is great and is an all time classic. But that is not very hard for television. Not to take anything away from it but it has holes. Hank and Jesse went from 0 to holy crap in no time flat.

I don't think it matters what Jesse thinks Walt poisoned the boy with, ricin or the flower, he flips out because he now just hates everything about Walt. He hates that Walt poisoned the boy, he hates that Walt played him in order to kill Gus, he hates that Walt has drug him down to these depths.

Possible spoiler for those who don't watch the Next Week scenes....

Jesse sums up his feelings in one statement next week..."Walter White is the devil."

Yes, Junkhead, but the point is not really the confirmation, it's the fact that Jesse threw away his chance for a new life based on his realization that Walt poisoned Brock.

And the question we're debating is how Jesse came to that realization.

I think that we're giving Jesse too much credit if we believe that he could follow the train of logic of what ACTUALLY happened, according to the writers.

What makes more sense is that Jesse believes that Walt DID use the ricin in some way to poison Brock. The ricin could have killed him. That's why Jesse has thrown away his chance to escape and is trying to burn down Walt's house: because, just as Walt was whistling at work while Jesse was mourning the kid killed at the train, the poisoning of Brock is just further evidence that Walt is a monster who would kill children (JUST LIKE GUS!).

ce1994, you're injecting your personal feelings and how you think you would react, as opposed to how the characters we've watched over the past five seasons would react.

But he is not the devil. He is not even the worst guy on this show. I like this show very much but you guys are making Walt out to be on par with Hitler. I just recently watched all episodes of The Shield. At the end they were making Vic Mackey out to be the devil himself. But what did he do that was really bad? He did not kill innocent people. The cloest he came was killing a snitch that was going to turn on him.

Walter White is a bad man. But he is not even the worst guy on this show. Gus makes him look like Barney the Purple dinosaur.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
He went from being convinced enough that Walt did care about him, from the hug, that he was willing to relocate for Walt's sake (that's what he said, He knew Walt needed the favor and he wanted Walt to just ask him) to figuring out that Walt had been playing him from day one and never changed.

So Walt's just gonna show up at the house and say "Hey Jesse remember it was the berries not the ricin that poisoned the kid. Wtf are you doing burning my house down - I dont know where the kid found the berries?!?! " Jesse then looks confused, cries, and moves on.

Wow! I can't believe the depths you guys will go to not believe the reasoning.

Let's go through this step-by-step so you guys can stop being so dense.

Jessie had a gun to Walt's head because he thought Walt poisoned Brock with ricin.

Walt explained that all-away saying that Gus must have poisoned him.

So, Walt convinced Jessie that Brock was poisoned by someone else.

Now Jessie learns that Walt had Saul steal his ricin cigarette from back then.

1) he now realizes that it wasn't in his home/roomba the entire time. Walt had to put it back. He didn't just lose it. Walt had it. And Walt spent hours in jessie's house helping him "look for it" and the miraculously they found it. He knows Walt put it back.

2) he now realizes that Brock's poisoning was not from Gus. he also learned back then from the doctors that it was a berry from the Lily of the Valley.

3) So, if he puts 2+2 together, he has to realize that Brock could not have accidentally eaten the Lily of the Valley. He realizes that for Walt's plan to "play" him, Walt needed Brock to actually be sick/poisoned. Otherwise, there was no reason for Walt to just steal the Ricin... If Brock doesn't get sick, then the stealing of the ricin would not have accomplished anything.

that's what jessie realized. Someone had to poison Brock with the berries. Walt could not have relied on Brock accidentally eating the berries and then coming up the Ricin/Gus scenario.

And even Jessie could figure that out.

So, there you go... if you want to think that he couldn't figure this out, then you will just have to remain in your blissed-out, denseful state.

He was never convinced. He was terrified during that hug, but he gave up fighting it.

Walt has not been playing Jesse from day one. At first what Walt was doing, altough bad, was not gangster. He was making and selling meth in order to raise money for his family. In fact, once he hooked up with Gus he did not need Jesse anymore but wanted him as his partner just like always. So Walt was not playing Jesse from day one. Of course now Walt is a psychopath. I understand that. But that was not always the case.

Or how about it was just an accident and the kid ate some berries? Frankly you are the one being dense. The story has holes in it. It does not make me like it any less but it has a hole. It is entertainment. One of the best shows ever but come back to reality. Or are you one of those peoeple that go up to the house in real life and throw a pizza on it?

Geez! Thank you! Maybe some viewers needed a montage of flashbacks to go along with as Jesse figured it out.

Jesse doesn't know "how" Walt poisoned Brock (neither do we really), but he does know it was all put in motion and executed by Walt.

And heck yeah he wants to burn the house down...Walt poisoned a kid. Does it matter if the poisoning didn't result in death? Would you be pissed if someone poisoned a child you cared deeply for?

I know Fl. I just get a bit peaved when people attack others because they are not in lock step that the show is not stretching it a little.

Seriously? And the ricin was lifted by Huell why?

At this point you're just looking for alternatives instead of accepting the most obvious answer.

While Walt has played Jesse from time to time, he has also been very generous to him and looked out for him many times, some when it did not really serve him at all.

In the desert scene Jesse again accused Walt of killing Mike, but this time Walt let it go. So he essentially admitted to killing Mike.

It's all setting up for Walt to have to go through the painful realization that he has to kill Jesse in order to move on. But actually having Walt do it seems way too obvious. He could go through the process of convincing himself to kill Jesse, which would feel like killing his own son. But then it gets botched and Walt Jr dies as well.

ce1994,
I'll agree that somewhere inside him, Walt cares for Jesse and needs for Jesse to believe him. But make no mistake, Walt gas played him from the beginning. Walt roped Jesse into cooking meth in order to use him as a way into the drug world.

Look at how much Walt bullied Jesse around in the beginning, and talked down to him. Late, he needed Jesse to help keep up with the demand for his product and cook it at the 97% purity. Later he needed Jesse to side with him vs. Gus so that Walt wouldn't become expendable.

Walt cares for Jesse, sure. But he has played him all along. Jesse bow sees that.

I love this thread.....

but this Ricin talk is beating me down. Even if you don't like the "leap" (which i don't think it was) accept it and move on.

He had suspicions, they got exponentially multiplied when he realized the weed was lifted, and then confirmed by Saul.

Like was said a couple of pages back.... this is only a few months time in Jessie's world.
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Exactly. Even though Jesse doesn't know HOW Walt poisoned him, he knows he's responsible. Hell, we don't even know how he did it.

But just accept it and move on. It is not a huge leap. Let's not beat a dead horse even further.

It matters not whether Jesse thinks Walt poisoned him with ricin, LOTV, or dollar store toxic play-doh. Huell lifting the weed confirmed Jesse's first suspicion. Saul saying he didn't know what Walt was going to do with it (the Ricin) confirmed it again. The pocket pick proved Walt lied. At that point all bets are off.

Jesse was already on the edge. It probably wouldn't have taken much to lose it.

And Han shot first.

I wasn't beating a dead horse. I just wanted to someone to help me out.

Crap, this is the first season I've watched live. I watched all the seasons last summer on a marathon binge. So, with some episodes I watched at 3AM, I might have missed a few details.

I said I would quit asking and I will.

I just see this board as a very knowledgeable source and was looking for clarification.

All I know is that I LOVE THIS FREAKING SHOW BIITCH!!!

Can't wait for the final 5 episodes, and then will be sad as hell when it's all done.

I jumped on board in between Seasons 3 and 4..... it took me just about the minimum possible time it could take to watch the first three seasons. I was hooked from the opening scene. Half Measures is the show that made BB > Sopranos for me.
