In other news, the premiere had the best ratings in the show so far. Just shy of 3 million viewers.

Just now realized that the show's title: "Live Free or Die" is New Hampshire's state motto. Pretty cool tie-in there.
More than any other show I can remember, Gilligan has fun with the show titles, whether thru double entendre or even arc-ing them together. The best by far were the 4 episodes in Season 2 named "737", "Down", "Over", "ABQ"... which spelled out the season finale shocker; but each individually had another meaning within the context of each episode. Truly creative genius at play here.

I have a feeling that the first scene is WELL after Walt has lost his family (either they're dead, or have vanished into Colorado). He has the look of a beaten man in that scene, as if he's got nothing to care about or live for. I'm not sure what the gun is for, maybe he is planning to go out in a blaze of glory and bullets going up against the Cartel or something. But I am guessing that all has been lost by that scene - Jessie, Hank, family, Saul, Mike - either dead or gone.

What I don't know is if this takes place at the end of this shortened season or Season 6. I'm betting it is the beginning of the final episode.
