We've never gotten an explanation for why Walt ran out on Gretchen during the trip to her parents' house, or why he left Gray Matter.

So I'm wondering if maybe he discovered something Gray Matter was involved in, wanted no part of it, and didn't want to disclose it to Gretchen for some reason.

In other words, I'm wondering if the next steps up the food chain in the meth manufacturing/distribution empire end up revealing a complicit Elliot Schwartz.

It seems clear that Mike fears somebody over and above Gus, thus his insistence that Walt has screwed up big time, instead of just writing Gus off and accepting Walt as the new capo di tutti capi.

Exactly. For instance the Mad Men thread went 28 pages. All I was saying is there are about 7 or 8 pages of speculation or people talking about needing season 4 etc. Proceed as you wish. I will stay on this thread. Not a big deal.

I like the Grey Matter theory, I always thought it was weird that Walt could jump in and know the ins and outs of cooking meth. We never really saw Jesse teaching Walt the process that I can remember. But maybe it is a chemistry nerd thing, Gayle knew the process also.

The whole premise was Walt knew how to cook cause it's simple chemistry to him. He needed Jesse for the product distribution/dealing side of the business.

I'm pretty sure we can all get on the Internet and learn how to cook meth.

I heard one way involves cat litter, a bath tub and water. Apparently you just add water to the cat litter and let it slowly evaporate, crystals will form around the basin and wallah!

I dont know if its true, but a former addict friend said he did it like that about a decade ago, maybe the litter changed its formula...

Wow - that Madrigal Electo whatever is very Lost-ish if that website is for real. If you sat thru that awful small town cop show you saw Hank in the boardroom of Madrigal Electro. I thought they might be the manufacturer of the magnet but that website blows my mind

You make it sound like chemical results require some hidden knowledge to get to, and Walt just happened to find this scroll with the chemical equation, then he "perfected" the cook.

If back woods trash of Oklahoma can cook meth with their junior high educations, I think any college educated adult with a can-do attitude could make some meth.

In the first episode, Hank let Walt in to look at Crazy-8's lab. From that, Walt was able to deduce how it was done. Plus, a couple hours on the internet and a handful of conversations with Jesse could've filled in the blanks on the basic process.

Seriously?

Back in the days of Napster one of the most downloaded files was the anarchist cookbook. It had like 6 different ways to make nitroglycerin...all using crap lying around the house.


If you havent learned anything from BB its that there are a ton of ways to get the chemical result. Remember when they had to hyjack the barrel because they couldnt buy enough cough medicine to fill the order.

What were Hank and Gomey looking at in the burned out lab? Was that Walt's shoe that he chucked at the fly? Hank is going to suspect Walt this season and I bet the shoe will be a reason why (along with the magnet and other stuff)
