I thought the episode was great. Vince has a way of creating tension during scenes that were predictable. For example the scene with Walt at Elliot and Gretchen's, the scene at Sklyer's apt, and the showdown with the Nazis.

In each one we knew what was happening but the writing, acting, music, etc was so spot on it created immense edge of your seat tension. I think overall that's what pushed BB over The Sopranos for me.

One question I thought of while watching and then while watching Talking Bad afterwards...Would you consider Walt and Jessie adversaries?

I wouldn't. A love-hate relationship in the most extreme possible context is what I would call it.

You're right. We don't know exactly why he left. We just know he walked away from both her (when they were dating) and the company, and then resented that they were able to make millions/billions off of what he saw as "his" work. This was all in the ATM head crushing episode.

Two notes I had.

Noteworthy that the name of show is Breaking Bad, not Broke Bad. Walt might have been doing it for himself all along, but he still had his moral code. At least to himself, he never crossed his moral line; he never broke bad.

Jesse is a free man. The only people who knew of his connections are dead (Hank, Walt, gang, Todd, Lydia, Gomie) or know very little about him and likely wouldn't say anything (Skylar and Marie). Of course, there is skinny Pete and Badger, but how much do they really know/they wouldn't rat anyway.

Jesse is home free. Cops will get Heisenberg, and he'll get "credit" for the blue sky meth that'd been circulating for the past few months.

I think Walt realized the situation as soon as he heard the quality blue was still out there. He knew Pinkman was toast mentally and out of the business, so if he was cooking, he was doing it as some sort of nazi slave cooker. I think the partner hissy fit was just a ruse to locate Jesse.

It could also be referring to the Marty Robbins' song "El Paso," which plays in the tape deck of the stolen New Hampshire car, and which features a Mexican girl by the name.

I dunno, as Lydia said, Jesse is a wanted man.

Didn't so done say the Feds were looking for Pinkman?
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, but my interpretation is they wanted Jesse to get to Heisenberg. Now that he's dead, and has presumably been the one cooking the blue, the case is over.

Nobody else outside of Hank and Gomie knew about his involvement with Walt.

I won't lie, I had kinda hoped Jesse and Walt would have made up at the end.

Since that wasn't possible, I wonder had Jesse not seen the gunshot to the side of Walt, what Jess would have done, then. And if he had left Walt to live, how would Walt have taken himself out.

Hypotheticals, I know.

Marie knows Pinkman was involved. She made him coffee just a couple of days before her husband was killed, so I'm sure she said something about him. That said, I'm sure the feds are quite happy to wrap Heisenberg up in a nice little bow, and the blue meth disappearing entirely now will probalby help keep heat off Pinkman.

No, she doesn't. However, they will have his fingerprints all over the nazi lab, the gun in the nazi house that killed Jack, etc.

Even if she does, I don't see her caring enough about the feds catching him, especially considering he was the one helping Hank.
DannyDuberstein

Right, but for all she knows, he may have set him up. Although I think it's more logical that she may think he's dead along with Hank and Gomey. Either way, we've entered "way overthinking this" territory.

Thought it was great to see Jessie finally defy Walt when he asked to kill him. Jessie breaking free of the chains was much more than escaping the Nazis.

I also enjoyed seeing Badger and Skinny Pete back for a quick scene.

Great series with a fitting finale. Yes, it was logical and a little bit predictable, but it tied everything up nicely. I'm sure the missing $70m will soon surface as a MacGuffin in a movie.

I really looked forward to Sunday nights at 8pm - and the pages of discussion on this site that followed. I appreciate all the times someone has pointed out a subtle feature about the show that I missed out on.

I assumed the nazis took all of the files and stuff from hanks house when they went looking for jesses confession. The house was pretty destroyed. The gun had 3 sets of fingerprints touch it during the final scene too. I'm no CSI expert but I imagine that would mess with any investigation.

As for the lab, maybe he wore gloves the entire time? Haha that's all I have

You're right. After I posted, I recalled their house being trashed and edited. Jesse's fingerprints all over the nazi compound will be mainly what they have.

Pickem results:

Alright, here is the results. Due to a controversial finish, I've decided to score Walt's death as correct for BOTH "Death by Other" and "Death by Walter White."

With that in mind, there is a tie for first place (with 24/24 points correct and the tiebreaker question correct) between FL_Ag1998 and MW03.

Top 16 with their answers to Walter White's death and who the ricin was intended for below. I awarded 0.1 for a correct tiebreaker answer. Hopefully the formatting comes through correctly.

did anyone else get choked up during the apartment scene with Skyler, Holly, and of the worst..Walt Jr walking in?

also, was there any part of you that thought Walt was going to live when he was still standing and you could hear the sirens in the background? I will admit..I was holding out hope he lives and we get a movie. But that woulda taken away big time from the very poetic ending.
