That was an incredible episode! My heart was pounding at the end and I literally jumped towards the screen yelling Nooooo!!!! in unison with Jesse. Holy hell that was intense.

One aside that I noticed during the show was about Marie. When Hank and Marie were in the living room talking while holding the baby, Hank says that he doesn't want to give her back. Did anyone see Marie's response? The way she said me too seemed to be a bit of foreshadowing to me that she won't let Walt or maybe even Skylar take her back so easily. That could set up Walt justifying killing Marie in an attempt to protect his family.

Could be far fetched, but they've set up Marie being a bit of an odd ball throughout the series and her "stealing" their baby seems in character to me. And I think I remember in previous seasons her talking about how badly she wanted kids.

I figured the kid was going to get killed from the opening scene. But, I thought there was gonna be some moral discussion and debate before Mike took care of it. Did not expect Todd to casually wave back at the kid and then pull a gun. Dude obviously has Mike's same 'no witness' thing engrained into him. Between that and him catching the nanny cam, I wonder what his backstory is. Obviously more than just a petty thief posing as termite control.

AMC is seriously trying to hurt Dish. During all commercials was the not available on dish sign and call out and their website actually produces a pop-up saying to cancel Dish and provided the website and phone number to do it.

I'm so glad I don't have dish anymore.

Went through the same crap with them a couple of years ago when they lost FX for a while, along with some other channels like NatGeo.

It's infuriating. The only thing they have going for them is they don't carry LHN, either.

makes you wonder if that would have happened if tyra threw landry some more p back in their high school days.

Landry was an inspired casting job (huge shocker for this show, I know).

For some reason, I lol'ed at "promotional consideration by SFSR Railway" in the credits. What kind of value are they expecting to see from that paid product placement?

Dish's CEO:
quote:
He was also dismissive of AMC which has acclaimed series including Mad Men and Breaking Bad. “They’re critically acclaimed but not viewed as much by our audience”, he says. “And our customers can go to iTunes and get Mad Men the same time it’s on. We could pay the entire iTunes bill and it would be cheaper” than carrying the AMC Networks channels. Indeed, Ergen says that by not carrying the AMC channels Dish will be “several dollars cheaper than our competition that’s carrying those channels”.

I caught that line too, but I'm not sure about the direction you took it in. I simply thought Hank and Marie may end up wanting to start a family soon.

Didn't Landry help Tyra kill that dude in season 2, or at least cover it up.

I was impressed Todd and Jesse knew exactly how to open up the train car and work the hoses. They didn't show it, but I'm guessing they had a trial run at some point.

Was the truck driver one of Mike's crew from a previous episode - seems like they are getting a lot of folks involved in their little three man operation, will that turn on them at some point?

Good ep, but ready for Skylar to check out or fess up to Hank. Her scenes really slow the show down IMHO.

What is it with Landry/Lance aka Todd and dead bodies around railroad bridges?

Enjoyed the episode... But really disappointed they killed the kid... This series had already gone down that road.

The truck driver is Sauls guy. He was the fake EPA inspector that Skyler used.

Walt hadn't (he knew Brock wouldn't die). Nor had Jesse.

Nothing redeeming left in Walt. At all.

I've spent the last month watching this show from beginning to now. Tonight's episode was the first that I watched on the night it premiered. I've really gotten into the show and now having to wait an entire week to get a fix is going to bug me.

This might be one of the best show so far.

Also, is it that easy to bug a DEA office?

Was anyone else surprised at Walt's apparent acceptance of keeping the kids away? I'm trying to stay in his twisted thinking, but I'm not seeing an angle where he can still say he's doing it for his family, if he can't even be with half of it.

Well my guess is that's the plot from here on out. They can cook now, so need to shift to another plot line. The kids are that now????

What I'm seeing, and it has been evolving since he met Gus, this is now his sole purpose in life and family is slowly fading into the background. He still wants to keep his family safe in some small way, but the businesses success is driving all of his decisions now instead of his family.

IMHO

The writers left the viewer believing Brock was extremely close to death. i think it is presumptuous to assume Walt knew Brock wouldn't die. in fact, it takes a lot of the punch out of his actions if we assume that.

Same for me. I caught up last week and will now have to wait.

All I can say is, what other show on TV has its characters robbing a train for chemicals to make drugs? This show has some of the best writing I have ever seen and is always immensely entertaining. The openings are also great teasers. You watch them thinking "WTF" and then everything all fits together as the episode progresses. Once they brought up the train idea I knew the kid was going to get it.

Walt has always been my favorite character by far, but he is now starting to lose a little of his luster...

Right now, Mike is the best character IMO. He has a very odd mix of morality and ruthlessness and the best scenes these days involve him.

I'm realy surprised at how insignificant Hank has been thus far this year. He's always there lurking but I figured they would really play up the Walt vs Hank angle this year.

As far as Hank & Marie taking care of Holly, I think the writers are trying to show how much better they are as parents than Walt & Skyler. Walt's having them watch Scarface and Skyler's trying to drown herself and smokes in the house. They're also setting it up from when Hank & Marie adopt Holly after Walt & Skyler are dead.

I didn't expect Todd to kill that kid at all. Totally caught me off guard. I noticed they didn't show Walt's reaction, only Jesse's. Also, I doubt Mike will support the killing of that kid. The chemical company will never know they were robbed, and even if the kid saw everything that happened, he wouldn't have understood what was going on. All morals and emotions aside, killing that kid will cause more trouble for them than just ignoring that he was there.

Wallace & Todd both were in FNL....One got killed and the other did the killing (#2 for "Todd").

Intense last 10 minutes of the show, had me nervous for them. Did not expect Todd to shoot the kid after he waved to him.

In next week episode they show the feds following Mike. I wonder how come they didn't follow him earlier and could have seen Walt and Jesse with him.

FWIW they are only spoiling the worst arc of FNL in a mostly regrettable season.

Just had a realization this morning. The whole episode modeled the first part of the movie Heat… which should been obvious is as Hank mentioned it earlier in the show. The carefully planned heist, using a big truck to help pull it off, the "Johnny come lately" crew member asking rashly and killing an innocent.

Pretty freaking cool.

On the flip side, Hank's breakfast making skills are clearly lacking. A poor breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day, makes for a very pissed off Walt Jr, which we all got to see in this past episode how ugly that can get.

My thesis is: bad breakfast's are what causes Walt Jr to snap, and break bad himself. Next episode he will probably start smoking meth if this keeps up.

I noticed this, too. I wonder if next episode, Walt will try to justify the killing of the kid to obtain the methylamine? Would be another step into Walt "Breaking Bad".

Awesome episode.
