I would say that the methylamine they stole from the bottom would have minimal to no dilution from the water added to the top of the tank. From what I understand, methylamine is slightly more dense than water, therefore, the methylamine would sink when mixed with water (and vice versa, the added water would float). I'm not a chemist or engineer, just work with chemicals at work, so take it FWIW.
