quote:
1.I knew it. As soon as Mike started yelling at Walt, all I could think about was Walt looking at that gun in the bag. When they walked away from each other, I sighed in relief. Then, Walt turned around.
you should have known what was going down as soon as Walt said "no. I'll go get the bag." and especially known it when you saw Mike seemingly "at peace" in a random rural spot while he waited for Walt to show up.
Even though that scene was completely set up and you saw it coming a mile away, it was still cathartic. We all knew it was coming, and they did it perfect. A random, half-scared Walt killing him not because of logic, but because of emotion and having his ego checked. Then not shooting him with a killshot and allowing mike to drive away, but slowly suffer and die.
Mike's death could end up being a metaphor for the end of Walt's life. He was struck with the initial shot of being told he had terminal cancer, then began spiraling out of control, and while temporarily beating it, also knowing that the cancer will likely come back and take his life but he spends a few years suffering through turmoil, stress, losing his family, and the lingering knowledge that his time is limited and he will die. Just like Mike was shot, tried to get away or do anything to live, got back down by the river, and then slowly died instead of just being struck with the kill shot quickly. The death of Walt's life started when he was initially diagnosed. If it ends up being a solid metaphor, will we see Walt finally reach some acceptance of his life at the bitter end like Mike did with the "shut up and let me die at peace?" We shall see.
