Yes - that is my big question: Who gets gunned and the ricin? We know Walt is done and it ends badly. People know he is a monster - including his son. Skylar knew enough to be terrified of him but certainly learned more when all the details made it to press.

But revenge on whom? Hank and DEA? Jesse? Lydia's contacts who want him back? Rivals or old enemies threatening his living family? They've alluded to Scarface before - big shootout with drug rivals that ends badly?

Whatever he is up to during his Albuquerque return will be hard to pull off, surely the neighbor will call the police?

Badger's star trek episode is a foreshadow of how it will end.

In the flashforward, why is Walt's (former) neighbor so scared to see him? what does she know or what has she seen for her to be so scared/shocked to see him?

Fantastic start to the season! between skylar telling Lydia to GTFO and Walt v Hank in the garage, that was some awesome tv.

SO glad Breaking Bad is back!!

We are all waiting for this to be answered. Haven't seen what takes place yet.

my take,

Todd and his relatives have taken over the cook and the Czechs aren't happy with the product. as someone mentioned, Lydia will do something crazy to get Walt back. Will Walt's pride about his product kick back in? at first glance, it does not seem like it will.

Walt is trying to stay clean, but now has to deal with Hank. Will Walt tell Skylar that Hank knows?

Skylar is back protecting her man.

Hank being obsessed is greatness, Jessie being depressed is not so much.

given that heisenberg was written all over the house and that it was fenced off due to police seizure it probably got out that the biggest meth dealer in the southwest was living next door

Those cops that questioned Jesse when he told the doctors Brock was poisoned by ricin will probably remember that encounter.

Can't stop thinking about the kid playing with the toy car in the street by Hank's house. Was featured in season one. May have a part to play, given the history with Jesse and kids.

Heisenberg was painted in the house, everyone knows who Walt is. When that came out, safe to say all the details - killings, etc - was publicized.

This show is really hard to hear at times. I think I need to start watching with closed captioning.

I would suggest people watch with CC on. One cool feature is that they show conversations you can't hear. Example: when Mike's crew is being offed in prison music plays over the scene, but you can read the conversation the lawyer is having with his wife on the phone prior to him getting whacked.

Walt bombs Hank with it?

After sleeping on last night's episode, pretty sure the final scene is one of the best moments of the show. Should be Dean Norris' Emmy submission, IMHO.

I think the cartel took over. I don't think Todd and his posse could get that kind of cash, $10 million.

I wonder if Lydia comes after Jesse to cook the product and Walt comes out of hiding (people think he is dead) to save Jesse.

To counter that, funny how Walt is becoming corrupt and Jesse is finding his moral high.

It was interesting to hear the Director on talking bad about the definition of chemistry and how it relates to the show.

Why would Todd need 10 million? Walt probably just handed the operation to him.

Great episode; however, I thought Jesse going paper boy style with the money was over-the-top. We get it. He thinks it's blood money and can't live with it.

However, the scene where Walt denies killing Mike was awesome. The look on Jesse's face as he moved his eyes away knowing that Walt is full of **** was terrific. He's terrified of Walt.

Pretty sure Jesse will spill everything to Hank. Then Walt will either take out Hank, or Jesse, or both, and split for Europe.

No idea what happens after that that brings him back to ABQ.

I realized that my theory cannot be possible. Walt went to get the ricin in the flash forward. I can't figure out who that would be meant for at that time. Would he use that to kill himself?

Doubt Walt handed it over to him. Also in the "say my name" episode Walt specifically said the cartels product was in that 68% range.

Yeah, I'm guessing they got the methylamine and maybe some very generic guidance, but doubt they have anything close to Walt's detailed cook instructions.

i don't think there's any mystery with this. or am i missing something?

Walt is exposed as Heisenberg one of the great drug lords of the region, and the house is police taped off. I think I'd be terrified too if my neighbor came back under those circumstances.

The AZ guys were in the 68% range. They were dying it blue to make it look like Walt's product. The product previously available in the Czech Republic was in the 68% range, according to Lydia when she talked to Walt about moving the product there. Seems pretty common to be at that quality %.

And why wouldn't Walt hand it over to Todd? He taught him the process and his pride would leave him wanting a protege to carry on the business. He didn't need money from the methlamine. Plus, Todd already had muscle behind him with his uncle's "associates".
DannyDuberstein
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Because Walt has always been a proud ass about his product. Recall when he wigged out when Jesse was doing "his cook" back when they first started working with Gus? Jesse cooking Walt's recipe and selling it to Gus is what got Walt back in the business.

Todd definitely knows the basics of the cook so I could see them using him in the current operation, but things have apparently off the rails to some degree.

I'm in the camp that thinks Walt called up Declan and took the deal to get out after seeing Skylar's pile of money. I'm betting Lydia's people come after Walt's family to try and get him to cook the 99% blue sky, and that's who he goes full tilt after.
DannyDuberstein

That's where I'm leaning too. Lydia goes BSC when she's feeling the heat, and Skyler just threatened her as well.

I guess the issue I have with thinking Walt sold off the methlamine to someone he has no control over is, why then, did Lydia come to the car wash and tell Walt about the issues? It seemed like he would have had to have the ability to step in and help create the quality product again.

Edit: I think he pawned off Todd as a viable replacement to get out of the business and now it isn't working out.

I think someone came in and killed his family in the house while Walt was not there and wrote Heisenberg on the wall to let him know they were after him. Why would it come out and become known to the police, they tape off the house and then someone comes in and writes that on the wall? I think that is why the lady was so frightened. A mass murder happened right next door to her.

Also, we already know Walt is not going to walk away from this and let someone else profit from his genius. That happened with the start up company in college and Walt will never let that happen again. Walt is about empire building. To watch someone make billions off of him is too much for him to take. He is not turning the cooking methods over to anyone.

I don't think Walt just took a deal to sell the methlymine to Declan, but I think Lydia and Declan are all tied together because I thought they needed Declan for distribution. I think Lydia is still running the supply and Todd is likely to be involved.

He didn't turn over "his genius". He just stopped cooking. Which is why Lydia is upset that the quality is going down.

I don't think he turned over his secret receipt. He just told the AZ Mafia/Todd/Lydia/Whomever "I'm done cooking. Buy this methlymine for $xxx. You will never compete with the blue again."

Having a hard time deciding if his family is dead or just captured by either the AZ dealer or Czech mob.

I am leaning toward a very bleak situation where the family is dead.

Also, the Heisenberg painting. I think the punk kids probably painted that since there was lots of graffiti all over the back yard.
