Speculation on the opening scene?

I assume he was in ABQ since the gun dealer was the same guy that sold him his thirty-eight snub last season. But why the disguise in your home town?

great first episode.

like someone already said, skylar and Saul are ****ing terrified of walt. those scenes were intense. Jesse was cracking me up all episode and Walt has just completely lost it.

no doubt by the first scene Walt has or will come out of remission, and probably loses everything he cares about. can't wait to see this season unfold.

Opening scene is definitely out of remission......

It was evident that Walt was on a power trip when he told Skylar "I won". I think that basically set the tone for the rest of the season. His power-hungry, invincible attitude will be his undoing.

The series has had more than it's fair share of unrealistic and/or "really?" moments... You just kinda got roll with them.

I loved the last episode of S4, but really thought the scene showing the plant in the backyard was ruined when it zoomed in on the nametag still on the damn thing -- feeling it necessary to hit you over the head with it.

The note was a routing number to an account in Cayman.

Great start to Season 5!

Many PD's carry Glock pistols that are polymer plastics. The polymer shields the metal slide. It's the same stuff Junior/Finn's crutches are made of, except he uses it to ward off the evil bullies who want to kick his dbag ass for being a whiny breakfast lover who offers zero value and is still funneling money thru his stupid savewalterwhite.com website. I mean, his parents had enough money to buy an effin carwash and get his mom liposuction. I want my damn money back!!!!

Isn't mike retired APD? I'm assuming that's how he knew where the room was.

The cop also might have been out of range of the magnet. He didn't run into the room and it seemed the door was on edge of the room maybe out of the range. It appeared that Walt also turned off the power before the cops ran outside.

Great start to the 5th season. Push aside some of the stuff from last season that inevitably will come again (lily of the valley, other bomb making evidence, mike) soon, plus some good old fashioned scientist Walt and you've got yourself a solid premiere.

Awesome first episode. I was shocked Ted wasn't dead and have a feeling Walt might try to kill him (why else would the writers have him live, only to say he wouldn't talk? We got an emotional reaction out of Skyler from it, but I don't think that's all they have in mind...)

I hadn't even thought of the camera's left in the lab. The plot for E1 was very well done.

Any bets on how far in the future Walt buys the assault rifle at Denny's? Think we'll get there this summer, or next summer?

i would have thought it more likely that the magnet would break through the truck wall and fall out. those sides aren't very sturdy. regardless, didn't really bother me much.

Pretty sure the only reason that the trip/fall didn't kill Ted was to allow Walt to kill Ted himself. Possibly setting up the final straw that pushes Skylar away from him for good.

Not to rule out that possibility, but it seems the writers are putting Skylar thru a similar character arc as Walter and I viewed this as a step along that path.

True Skylar has started to venutre down the same path, but unlike Walt, I believe she will back away from the edge unlike Walt.

I just wonder if S05 will shock or reveal anything huge like S04 did.

is it assumed 100% of the laptop hard drive is erased, it was damaged sure, but is it 100% gone?

So glad this show is back! I guess the cig confirms that Saul's guy lifted it off of Jesse, so that answers that.

The bank routing info could screw Walt, but do you also think the magnet will come into play? There can't be more than a few places where that magnet could have come from. And unless the scrapyard guy is getting paid a lot to keep quiet, Walt could be in big trouble if the cops get to him. That guy is pretty badass though, so I don't think he'd squeal.

Fun Fact: This guy also plays Crazy Carl in Billy Madison.

I also think it's cool how Mike went from a minor character (planting bugs on Walt's house for Gus) to being part of the "trifecta" running the show. Kind of like Game of Thrones, you never know who's going to step up.
